I certainly regret selling my pristine 3GS, however I pre-ordered my iP4 so there was no way for me to know that it would be a dud.

Antennagate killed the fun of having a new iPhone

If the next one looks just like the 4, I'm going to pass.

Apple needs to include a good phone and stop pointing fingers like a three year old kid blaming someone else.. It's NOT AT&T

I know, I've got Androids and other phones on their network that work perfectly.

Apple only needs to do what they are capable of, buy a good chip and make the phone match the quality of the rest of the device.

Sadly, that may be too much to ask.

I understand that Qualcomm has some really good chips, but they would cost Apple 25 cents more than the current chip, and we all know how broke Apple is
The first step for Apple is admitting they have a problem. Much like an alcoholic or a drug addict, Apple seems to be in a dream state where they can do no wrong.

Finally, another voice of reason.

Make no mistake I've really enjoyed Apple laptops, desktops and other products over the years.

But in recent times, mainly since the iPhone it seems that the level of elitism, along with the "We're So Far Superior" arrogance is really over the top. It's virtually my only complaint with Apple. That and their nefarious business practices that surface from time to time. Like the product, Apple is very good at keeping secrets, so we only see the tip of the iceberg in terms of how they operate.

There is no reason for them to be the way they are. They are so successful monetarily that the would most certainly benefit by acting more mature and less egotistical. For a guy like Jobs to actually act like he cares about the customer instead of talking down to them.

I prefer the 4 but I have a friend who hates the concept of an all-glass body. While we have a different preference I can see his point.

I agree with what some others have mentioned earlier on in the thread. The iPhone 4 looks so much better, but the 3GS feels much better which personally I say is more important. But obviously the iPhone 4 retina display among other features naturally takes it above the 3GS in most other departmants as you would expect.

Guess it's all down to personal choice :)

I actually upgraded from my 3G to the 4 and then returned the 4 to go back to my 3G. A few months later my secretary gave me his 3GS when he upgraded and I'm completely content.

I will upgrade to the next one, but I am content with my 3GS - for now.

I have had both the 3GS and the 4. I could never go back to the 3GS, mostly because of the screen (which I am used to now, but whenever I look at a 3GS I am reminded of how good I have it). However, the speed increase is very noticeable. Plus, the camera is far superior. The antenna issues never affected me. I can reproduce them at will, but it has never affected my usage, possibly because of the network strength here in the GTA.

Of course, the iPhone 5 will top the iPhone 4 on all accounts.

I love my 3Gs enough to wait for the next iPhone, but I will always be wowed by the design and build quality of the iPhone 4. Honestly, it's basically everything I am: minimalistic, industrial, modern, and shiny.

I think I was one of the few people who was so excited and couldn't wait when the 4 leaked before its release. It's a shame I don't have it, but I'm going to stick with my every other model upgrades: Original iPhone, 3Gs, 4S(?!).

Hopefully the iPhone 5 will have the best of both worlds. I hope Apple changes up the design a bit. I'd like to see the same front as the iPhone 4, but with a 3.7" to 4" screen, and a rounded back of a 3G/3GS. The sharpness of the iPhone 4 is just not proper ergonomics, i'm astounded that Apple didn't think about that before.
Let's not even mention an antenna redesign, as that's very necessary.

Agreed

The only aspect of the 3G I miss is the rounded plastic back. I liked the feel of it so much better. I like the look of the squared edges on the iPhone 4, but I liked the feel of the rounded edges. I hope they bring the donthe rounded back again in the future, and having glass on the back is just kind of stupid.

About the rounded plastic back instead of glass. i totally agree, id rather the back of my phone to be scratched instead of having shattered glass.

A friend of mine has no desire to switch up from his 3GS to a iP4 even though he qualifies for the upgrade plan with AT&T. He enjoys the fit and feel of the 3GS and claims the newer model really isn't any faster overall.

He does agree the display is lacking but not so much as to get him motivated to upgrade.

Anyone else share his thinking? You could easily upgrade but choose not to as the 3GS works well for you as it is.

I definitely prefer the look and feel of the 3GS over the 4. The only thing I don't like is that the white 3GS is still black on the front.
Still, I was finally won over by the retina display and slightly better performance and got a white 4 as soon as it came out.
