anyone return/sold their macbook pro m1 to return to an intel version

As per title:

Has anyone return/sold their macbook pro m1 to return to an intel version due to work reasons?

I bought mine in February, and was holding on as I hope that virtualisation for linux and windows would picked up but that did not seem to happen. (don't think there is a proper virtualisation for linux and windows for business use yet ?)



apart from need of running virtualisation, photoshop and lightroom is blazing fast! 🙁



thoughts? or would it be time to ditch macbook pro and just stick with intel windows laptops for now till more software support is supported on the m1? 🙁

p.s: use virtualisation to run windows engineering softwares., and no crossover won't work.

Based on the number of replies I'm going to guess people who bought M1s are making due without other platform support. I've been using Parsec to control a Windows Desktop on my local network and it's a very nice way to stay on my Mac and still use other OSes.

i dont have a spare windows machine now unfortunately.

are you using the free version of parsec? is it quicker than remote desktop software (team viewer) ?

Doing it right now. Just got an i9 intel. Although I can run windows in parallels on the m1 I am having issues with peripherals working on windows for arm.

Not sure if I got a bad deal or not but I had ordered a MacBook Air M1 version and found it not to be so good. People were saying maybe it was bc I was using edge browser or something and also this was early on, but my intel macbook pro worked better IMO. So that was that.

I’m using the paid version through work, though I was using the free one before that and it worked great. Definitely my preferred Remote Desktop solution.

I understand that Crossover Mac has a version that runs Windows on an M1 Mac. They have a free trial that you can try. (https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover#mac )
