Bought a 2020 iMac (5700xt 16GB) and wondering if boot camp is set up to run Win10 yet?

Anyone have it running? Any problems?

If you want to play games, go ahead. Many here already did it.

If not playing games, virtualization is way more convenient.
Thanks wasn’t sure if all the drivers for the gpu were ready to go for boot camp.

Have to get Fortnite up and running for the kids this weekend!

From what I have been reading on reddit... the issue is the lack of graphic driver support for the 5700XT under Windows 10. Yet I see people running bootcamp on the new machines.

Yeah, I've seen that video too... and yet there are still folks saying there is a lack of driver support. I suspect they are referring to non-Apple drivers for Windows 10. I think the video is only using stock bootcamp drivers, not upgraded drivers.

You can easily game under Windows 10 with all the different GPU options of the iMac. People are just hoping that we'll soon see somre more optimized drivers for the 5700 XT among others.

The eternal hope of GPU optimised bootcamp drivers :)

Not high on the priority list I am afraid.

Are they referring to the 5700XT in the iMac or the PC version in an eGPU enclosure?

He seems to be playing fine with the default drivers. There are updated bootcamp drivers that can be used as well.

I've put a couple of hours into Assassin's Creed Odyssey all maxed out settings on my external 1440p display and it's been fantastic. Granted, it's a couple of years old but it was pretty demanding when it was released. I've got MS Flight Sim 2020 ready to play but I've never played the game before so I don't even know where to begin.

@torifile How did you get normal FPS on your BootCamp windows? :)
I've been trying everything, from Apple's bootcamp drivers, to bootcampdrivers.com package, and none of it seems to be working. My Unigine Heaven benchmark stays at 18FPS..

My device manager says "Device is working properly" but if I go looking at the "Events", it says:

Device not started (amdkmdag)
Device PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7319&SUBSYS_021B106B&REV_40\6&39763615&0&00000008 had a problem starting.

Don't use the drivers from Bootcampdrivers.com atm. They are broken on the 2020 iMac and causes the fans to spin at full speed, even when just looking at the Windows desktop.
I've been using Bootcamp with the drivers that Apple install for you and it's been running perfectly. Running in 1440p at max settings, everything is above 60 fps. In a lot of games I see FPS above 130 as well.

I usually sync the frames to the screen so it stays 100% stable at 60 fps - this results in the fans being much more silent when gaming.

I run 5700xt under bootcamp. The official drivers provided by Apple are great. Yeah, they are about 6 months out of date, but I get great graphics playing anything. Some games I get 4K@ultra@60fps (like Skyrim). Witcher3 I can play at 1440p@ultra@60fps and 4K@ultra@45fps. The unofficial drivers (from MatHD) are hit and miss with the 5700xt, but are promising for when Apple/AMD updates the drivers in the future. I personally have all games crash with the unofficial red or blue drivers, but before they do I get about 5-10% better frames. The 5700XT will definitely be able to play Cyberpunk2077 at 1440p, for certain.

Damn sweet :) Can I ask you guys which bootcamp version you're using? It didnt work for me.. What does it say when you go to your 5700 XT card in Device Manager > Radeon 5700XT > Properties > Events as your last event? I hope to get it working..

AMD released updated Windows drivers for the latest iMac & 5700XT a few days ago, on 09/08.

^ I haven't bought the 2020 iMac with the 5700xt yet, but I was wondering about how the performance is with the latest drivers from AMD. Is there a nice improvement from the old Bootcamp drivers? I'm asking cause I have only seen gameplay using the old drivers.

Couldn’t tell you any details yet, I just found the drivers today.
