Mid-2011, 4 / 128 here.
Overall, it seems fine - placebo effect might encourage me to believe its running faster overall. No idea on battery yet - mostly on AC since the update.
If there's a struggle, it seems to be with Microsoft Office 2016 - a bit of a lapse to get it running, but that beats the expected results of 2011, which MS has said won't work at all. Haven't tried all of the OS's default apps yet, either - so no idea what 'upgrades' cause more troubles than they solve.

But short of the Air going up in a little puff of smoke as I do my usual stuff, it seems my Air is good for another year.
(knock on wood)

Anyone know of a practical list of apps that either don't run on High Sierra or require an upgrade first? Anyone here find apps not working properly with High Sierra upgrade?

some Adobe products (illustrator, indesign) could cause problems

not a personal experience, read it somewhere, probably here on MR

There is a thread on software compatibility in the High Sierra forum.

In my case Photoshop CS4 does not work properly. Photoshop CS6 works but has some really minor bugs. I'll stick it out with CS6 because I don't want to pay for a subscription. Office 2011 works mostly fine, but again there are some really minor bugs. More an annoyance than anything. eg. Upon first launch of Excel, if I try to close a spreadsheet using the red close button in the top left corner, nothing happens. I have to close using the menu. But then after that it all works fine. Luckily I have a licence for Office 2016, so I'm just using that now, but partially because I want the cloud support.

Interestingly, you can leave Office 2011 and 2016 on the same machine, no problems. Both will continue to work. I stuck with just one though on the laptops to save space.

Regarding RAM:

I don't have an Air, but up until recently I had a 4 GB machine MacBook, an 8 GB MacBook Pro, and a 16 GB MacBook. For light usage, 16 GB provides no benefit over 8 GB, but while 4 GB is OK, 8 GB is noticeably smoother even for relatively light usage. IMO, you can easily get by with 4 GB with light to light-moderate usage, but 8 GB is preferred, while moderate to heavy usage really needs 8 GB or more.

But then again, I found the same to be true on even El Capitan, so YMMV.

I've since upgraded the 4 GB machine to 8 GB though, for the reasons mentioned, and because it was really, really cheap to do so. I lucked out and was able to get in on a very limited sale at Amazon.ca for 8 GB of name brand RAM for CAD$45/US$36. At that price it was a no-brainer. It's too bad we can't upgrade the memory of any of the newer Mac laptops ourselves.

Overall I feel like it seems a slight bit faster, other than it broke our WiFi and safari wouldn’t load until configure files were deleted and the laptop restarted.

I'm running High Sierra on a 2011 Air with 2 GB of RAM and a 64 GB SSD. Runs just fine.

I upgraded a mid-2013 MBA (4 Gb, 128 ssd, i5) that was running the latest release of Sierra, office 2011, and NTFS for Mac v14.

After upgrading to High Sierra, it takes about 30 seconds to get to the log in screen instead of the 10 in Sierra. I tried the upgrade again but removed office 2011 and NTFS for Mac before upgrading but it didn't make a difference. Tried a clean install and same thing again: 25 to 30 seconds to get to the login screen.

Boot times did not get lower after numerous reboots either. Once booted, the machine seems no slower than Sierra.

Hows the performance so far? Thinking of updating from El Capitan.

running 2012 11" air 4GB/64GB i5 1.7

thing in general about same as Sierra, safari bit better.
still have iMessage delay though.

I think it was worth the upgrade.

It was a worthy upgrade in my opinion.

I was intrigued by these 30 second delay because my 13" i5 late 2013 doesn't have this delay so I did a fresh install of High Sierra and it now takes about 10 seconds to get to the login screen.
