Anyone sell their 24” iMac for a 14” or 16” M1 MacBook Pro?

Why wow? I really liked the iMac but for my used a laptop made more sense. With the iMac you’re stuck at the desk but a laptop you can take anywhere.

I thought about keeping the iMac but I knew at that point it wasn’t going to get much use.

I wouldn’t sell it for a air would have to be a 14” pro at least, I don’t want a downgrade, tried a base air 2 was slower than my 8/512 24”.

I wanted the Air because it was lighter. It’s just as fast as my iMac for everything I do. What do you use it for where it’s slower?

Ok For which one or 2 lol.
I saw a 16”, getting only half back in less than a year sucks, I got $1500aud back for my 27” 2015 2tb fusion a year ago.
Got a 16” as a desktop replacement. My less than yr old $1600 iMac was only worth $400 from Apple and it took me a long time to sell it on Craigslist for $800. All in one desktops are a niche market so as a frequent upgrader I’ll never buy one again especially since Apple burns you on trade it value.

It was a 24”? Was it in rough condition? I had no problem getting $1200 for my 16 GB/ 512 GB iMac on CL. I think Apple offered me less than $800 so no deal there.

Would never use apple to trade anything, mine is worth $2500 new so would be looking at 2/3 back.

Probably nothing lol did you get the 16/512 Air 2, I only tried the base.

Yes and it was brand new basically with everything original included. Obviously it depends on where you live and how many people are interested at the time of posting.

Apple usually isn’t bad for phones but everything is terrible. That said, with all their trade in reductions (two in 2022) it’s look like a worse option. Nothing beats taking it to the store and getting the quoted price however.

Have never been in a Apple store, 6 hour drive for me.

I've had mixed luck selling things on CL. I found really good pictures, a clear title, and clear description saves a lot of time and will catch more buyers. Sometimes people don't want something though. Laptops are always easier to sell because everyone wants one. I'm a little surprised that the buyer of my iMac bought it because he said it was for his wife's school. I mentioned maybe he should get her a laptop but he said no he wanted the iMac. I didn't really want to talk him out of it but I would feel bad if someone bought it then regretted it.

You're right about the iPhone. They give pretty good trade in sometimes. On Macs it's not so much but it's hassle free. You have to be careful about selling on CL because there are more scammers than buyers out there. You might end up getting nothing.
