I have iPhone X with 64GB and have about 25GB remaining. I stream all my music and backup photos and videos every few months. Only have a few games (that my kids play).

Any reason to get the larger memory or just save the cash and buy a beer?

You will need more storage for the 4k videos.

I currently have the 64GB Max and went with it again for the Pro Max in Midnight Green. I am only using 40 out of the 64 gig and thats with over 8,000 pictures on my phone, so I saw no need to pay more for 256.

Having storage overhead is good if you think its going to be a close call and ruin your experience or cause you to juggle data around constantly, but totally unused storage that you aren't going to get your money back on when you trade or resell isn't good either (imo)

there's a 15% upcharge for storage on an already expensive device

Nope. You know your usage pattern. When it fills up, export the pics out. Since you do this regularly, shouldn't be a bother at all.

I stuck with 64 since I’m only using 40ish currently on this phone. Saw no need to pay for the extra when I have iCloud storage as well.

Yup, I have just under 8k photos, 400 videos and I still have 35gb free. No reason for me to go bigger although if 128 was available, I would have done that.

Just look at your current phone and you have your answer. I have a 64gb phone with 20gb available because all my music, photos, and videos are in the cloud.

Wow how are you only using 40 with 8K photos? All my pics are backed up to OneDrive and Google Photos (except for the ones I took recently) and I only have 25GB left.

As of now, All colors on the Pro Max are still available for Launch Day Delivery in 64gb I see, so those of us who wanted the 64gb didnt have to jump on right at the time the store went live lol. Im looking forward to getting mine next week.

I have exactly 8,406 and I am using 39.6 of 64GB. I also have 239 Videos in my Photo File :)

I have a 256GB XS Max and I am only using about 50GB even though I have over 10,000 photos and 300 videos. I pay for 200GB of iCloud space and stream most of my music. So far this has worked out fine. Therefore, this year I decided to get the 64GB Pro Max.

I am getting the 64GB. I am currently only using 37 out of the 64 on my XS. I stream my music on Spotify and have my photos on the cloud, so I don't need that much storage on my phone.

I don’t need everything downloaded on my device all the time. I upload my 4K to the cloud and when I want to access it and other media I download again. I also stream the majority of my media so I’ll gladly save the $150 to continue using 64gb.

I keep a fair amount of apps on my phone out of convenience for different projects/sports/info yada yada. Went from a 256 X, to a 64 GB XS Max, switched back to a 256 for the 11 Pro Max after I found out I was micro managing data more than I had hoped.

I had 64GB in the XR and X, and was going to do the same this time around but as I am planning to keep the device for a while I opted for the 256GB this time.
For anyone who is currently comfortable with the 64GB, they will be fine going forwards I would have thought.

Only you know how much space you need. Personally, I can't imagine a scenario where 64GB would EVER not be plenty. I stream my music, don't store videos on my phone and I don't take 100 pics a day. But that's me. My sister would argue that 256GB is too small! To each his own.

As a few others said, I downgraded from 256 to 64 this year after two years of 256. Apple lost at least $100 on me, and presumably many others, by not offering a pro 128gb option. I'm only using 35 gigs on my 256 but I would have gone with the 128 for security. Instead, I saved $200 getting 64 versus the 256.

Absolutely. On my 64 GB XS Max, I have 40 GB free. I have 101 apps downloaded. I don't store any photos or videos on my iPhone. (All neatly organized in Dropbox.) I stream all my music. I don't game.
