Just wanting to see if anyone is still rocking the 2014 MBP like I am! I honestly am a pretty light user at home, so I don't see myself upgrading until it breaks or until Apple stops supporting it with software.

Best computer I've ever owned :)

I bought a new MacBook Pro BUT I am still using my mid-2014 15” retina. It’s at home now part of my wife’s work station. When I say work, I mean the occasional email, Facebook and reading the news.

Kidding aside, it’s still a very capable machine for daily use and even for some heavy tasks.

I owned one and liked it a lot. I had plans to keep it for years. My spilled coffee changed that plan and forced me to upgrade just a year later to a 2015. Was a total bummer. Now I get AppleCare + lol.

I would say millions are still in use. If it does what you need . . . .

I’d like to add, that the Retina is the last MacBook Pro that had minimal gimik.

1. Normal keyboard with normal play now we have the butterfly switch keyboards that I initially hated but now love.

2. Function keys...I hardly use the TB.

3. All the ports a modern computer user would need...now we’re stuck with 4 thunderbolt 3 ports.

It was a great machine. Glad you’re enjoying it.

I'm writing this on my 2012 MBPR ;)

But going to be replaced next week.
Mine is not going to be replaced next week. Though I do spend more time on my desktop 5K iMac (Late 2015) than I do on the 2012 Retina MacBook Pro, I have no need to upgrade until Apple finally gives us a proper 3360x2100 native screen res on the 15" MacBook Pro. :)

Yeah there is definitely no need to upgrade. It's still plenty fast.
I just wanted a smaller device for my needs. (13'')

I'm using a 2014 15" MBP to write this right now. It's been my favorite possession for almost 4 years. I have a 2018 15" MBP getting delivered in a few days. I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade forever. We'll see how it goes. Gonna try it out, and if I hate it, return it.

Until Wednesday, I was rocking a 13" 2013 MacBook Pro. That day I upgraded to one of the new 15" models. A lot has changed in five years! This is my fourth MacBook Pro and they seem to last me 4-5 years before I get the irresistible urge to upgrade. With that in mind I am going to try to treat this one really well. I picked up a leather sleeve for it and a nice backpack with a dedicated laptop section.

My 2014 13” Retina MBP worked great. If I needed a laptop, I’d still have it. But I sold it, as I’m going for the iPad/iMac combo.
It ran everything I needed, and did so well.
It only had 8GB RAM, but I don’t recall that ever being a problem. And the 512 GB SSD was plenty large, and fast.
It was light, easy to carry.
What’s not to like?
