Anyone successfully activated iCloud.com email id?

Has anyone managed to activate the new iCloud.com email id?

I logged onto beta.icloud.com (I am on beta 3) and tried creating a new alias (xyz@icloud.com) but it keeps giving me an error "This alias can not be saved at this time."

Anyone faced a similar issue and managed to sort it out?
