After doing a little research, it seems I can just switch between two phones by swapping the SIM card.

I was considering purchasing a smaller, cheaper phone to use at work. Does anyone do this regularly, and are there any issues I should be aware of?

The only one I can think of now would be the Apple Watch and it’s inabilty to pair with two separate phones at the same time.

Thanks.

I swap my sim between my iPhone X and my Note 8 and the only thing you need to be aware of is to turn off iMessage before swapping between an iPhone and an Android device. If it's two iOS devices you don't need to worry about that.

I did have a SIM card reader fail on an iPhone 5 years ago but Apple swapped it out as defective.

Only thin I would worry about is wearing out the SIM card reader but it should last for years.
That makes sense but I would be upgrading the main phone every year typically.

Im looking at swapping between my X and a SE. it’s such a shame we can’t pair our watches to two iPhones. I suspect it wouldn’t be an issue though since the watch can store up to 30 days of info.

I swap between and x an 8plus and a 6s for various reasons. Several times a week. Yes Apple Watch doesn’t work across all devices but the data in apps is stored for several weeks and activity syncs after several days. Phones all work fine. WiFi calling needs to be re setup with your carrier on the new device each time though.

SE/7p/X owner here :D

All but X jailbroken

I used to sim swap between 7p and SE but I think sim will be in my X most of the time if not all the time. The others mostly will be WiFi connected tinkering devices

No hard and fast rule tho. And not worried about SIM wear on the card or the reader.

To re setup WiFi calling...does that require a phone call to att?

Just a few steps to take in consideration when rotating your Sim card between iPhones:

Make sure to disable Wi-Fi on both devices first if connected, then power down both iPhones, then switch the Sim card to the iPhone of your choice, then power the iPhone back on and wait for a minute, then reenable Wi-Fi if desired.

Most are not aware of these steps, but it will prevent having issues with the Sim card reading with the iPhone, which can happen.

I have so many phones that I switch between that it's not even funny. I have three lines on T-Mobile for $100 so it makes it easy.

I have:

6S+
6S
Note 8
S8+

Today I have a brand new 7+ being delivered. I have several other phones too but I don't use them as phones much anymore.

The phones my three sims in today are: 6S+, Note 8 and S8+. When I get the 7+ today, I'll take the sim out of the 6S+ and put it in the 7+ and I'll use that as my daily for awhile. The sims have been in the Note 8 and S8+ since I got the phones.

I have three Apple watches paired to the 6S+ and will pair them to the 7+ after midnight to start the new day.

There are times when I have left the iPhone at home and just went Samsung and still wore a watch. I just put it on airplane mode to keep the battery from draining faster.

I switch as well, just not with that many devices.

Curious - why the 7+?

Since I can never decide once and for all what size I like, I regularly swap between my 4" SE, 4.7" IP 6, and 5.5" Moto G4. Always travel with the SE, though, since it's much more pocketable.

The SE is the reason I’m considering this. At work, I don’t use the phone much so a smaller phone that I don’t much care about would be nice. In my line of work, I find myself in physical altercations at times and would be seriously upset if I broke or lost my new X chasing or fighting someone.

Try T-Mobile digits. I have two phones with the same phone number. I also have unlimited data on both phones. There is a 25 dollar charge for fast data on the second phone ten for unlimited 3g data. However it is free if you download the digit app which is in the play store and App Store. You just have to call and text from the app and no data.
