As the title states, anyone have any success switching the black iphone4 for a white iphone 4 at the Genius Bar?

Ever since the white iPhone 3G came out people have been asking that, Apple will never exchange the color at the Genius bar. You'll have to return the phone (within the 30 day return period) to switch.

That's too bad, I was wondering about that too.

Anyone bought a black car and tried switching to a white car at the dealer? ;)

Was anyone promised a black car and white car at launch, but the white car was delayed so everyone bought the black one and now they won't let you switch because everyone wants the white one now? :D

Didnt ask if it would or would not happen...I asked if anyone has tried

Actually, you did. The one thing you didn't ask was if anyone had tried.

Anyway, plenty have tried - none have succeeded. They will only switch colors if they are out of your color. So you may have a good chance of swapping a white to get a black right now.

I've always heard black ones are bigger ;)

Actually everyone thought white ones were bigger for once:cool:, then measurements deemed them equal. :D

Your logic would be sound, except that nobody wants a white. :p

Not going to happen bro. Apple knows you are just trying to cut corners on getting a different color. It would be more reasonable if you were paying OOW fees on a 2 year phone ... but even then, they'd probably say no.

I bought a black car and the dealer tried to switch it to a white car! They acted like it was no big deal... I should have suggested they switch it to red!

But what if my favorite car manufacturer doesn't produce it in red, forcing me to buy aftermarket painted parts?

Interesting story for you ... I actually had THREE defective iPhone 4's within 8 days. By the last replacement, I made a point of saying that it was pathetic how unreliable the phones had been and that I wanted a white one. They actually almost did it too, as the genius was very understanding of the crappy experiences I had had, but the managers on duty were busy and I didn't feel like waiting. So if you have a bad experience, they can make anything happen, just don't expect it to happen often.

If I go with the Apple analogy, they would convince me that I didn't need red, then when they built their first red car the headlights would leak through the sides of the car pushing back the release date!
