I've always had the larger Max's but kind getting tired of the larger size etc. I feel the pro will be much easier to hold and use in 1 hand. Has anyone done this in the past or is anyone doing this with the 18 Pro? The battery life is getting better on the regular pros these days.

My path over the years was 7+ > 8+ > 12 > 14P > 16PM, when I finally decided battery life in year 2 of having the phone mattered more than weight, that and the 16PM wasn't *that* much heavier than the 14P thanks to the titanium weight savings.

But yeah, now the PM is heavy again thanks to the return to aluminum and I don't think the Air's battery will suffice, and I'm looking at the 18P's battery life claims (which are longer than the 16PM) and wondering how they'd bear out in real life. I probably will end up just keeping my 16PM another year and seeing how the 20th anniversary iPhones turn out next year.

I went from the 14PM to the 17P last year. Every day I both appreciate and regret the switch. I like the lighter weight (at the time 14PM was the heaviest iPhone), it's easier to use one-handed, I drop it less, and at times find myself really liking the form factor of the Pro.

I also miss the larger display of the PM for emails, photo editing, texting, and larger keyboard layout, Teams, YouTube videos, and overall size of information on the screen. More and more info seems to be in menus that require scrolling, and the OS seems like it's designed more for the PM size display despite not really scaling to take full advantage of the difference.

I'm incredibly torn on upgrading this year solely for the switch back to a PM. The 18PM is going to be heavier than my 14PM, and with a case, it will be even more so. There's also the added cost. I was hoping there would be more of a difference between the P and PM versions so it would make the decision easier. The C2 modem just isn't enough of a difference to push me one way or the other.

I didn't mention battery life because I always have access to a charger during the work week, and usage just isn't that heavy because I'm in front of a computer. On weekends, I've never had a situation where I'm not without a fair amount of life left at the end of the day even with heavier usage. In the car, I use wired CarPlay, so it's also charging when I'm on the road. Battery just isn't something I think about anymore.

I have no idea if any of that helps. There are trade-offs and compromises with either choice. You do have a two-week return window, and that should give good insight into whether or not you can live long-term with whatever you decide.

I am debating the same thing. I have had a PM since they became a thing, and I am thinking about getting just a regular pro this if I decide against the getting the Duo.

In the past, the Max always had something extra that the Pro didn't, usually with the camera. This year, there is no difference other than the size and the modem being used.

I am afraid that I will miss the extra screen space.

The 18 Pro is supposed to have about equal battery life as the 17 PM according to Apple, although i doubt it in real life but it will be fairly close which is a good thing.

I downsized last year and am sticking to non Max again. Been happy with the more phone-sized phone again, and I don’t need a phone to be my heavy media consumption hub right now.

After years and years of PM I switched last year from PM to P.
I couldn't handle this heavy thing anymore.
Missed the screen size from time to time but overall I'm much happier now.
But I caught myself thinking of switching back again, haha

I did this exact switch last year and don’t regret it at all. It took maybe two days to adjust then I was fine. I use my iPad a lot more for surfing the web now.

You really don’t, imho you appreciate the size and weight difference more than anything. I flipped flopped from max to regular pro’s, especially when there’s no real difference between the two like camera upgrades and zoom, but always go back to the 6.1 phones

I had 12 pro, 14 pro and 16 pro and am really thinking of going to the PM this year. Very much torn on it. The increased screen size has always impressed me in stores when I mess about with them but worried too heavy, bulky in jeans pocket etc and I alway use a case.

I went back to the regular sized 17 Pro last year because of the bulk of the Max. I like to use my phone in one hand a lot and the max size is just awkward to one hand, I would just end up using 2 hands so I didn't drop it.

I don't have that issue with my 17 Pro and don't really miss the extra screen the max gives you.
