Just wondering if anyone who has a 2018 iPad Pro and who is upgrading this year is opting for the Apple Trade In which I believe is around $200 / £200. Worth doing (considering rumours of end of support from iOS 18) or keeping?

iPad Pro Anyone trading in their 2018 iPad Pro?

I am definitely not doing it. I have 2 2018 pros, a 12.9 512 wifi and a 1TB 11" cellular.
Apple quoted 205 and 170 respectively.
iPadOS 18 will support these iPads 100%. Even the 2017 pro is still supported (but that may lose support). Of course they will not get all the Ai features. Maybe even M1 might not get some features.
Anyway, I could easily sell these iPads for 400-500. Plus I have many accessories for them.

I’ve heard horror stories sith Apple’s trade-in. People sending in a good device, only to be rejected and then receive a really scratched device back. The new iPads also don’t do anything my 2018 iPad Pro cannot do. I’ll at least wait for WWDC, but don’t expect anything significant to change.
Stay away from Apple “Trade In” Program at all costs. It is way more lucrative to sell to someone in your local area. You will “always” come out better in the end. Apple pays pennies on the dollar for the trade in.
They probably don't take specs into account, just generation and size, my M1 12.9 128 5G was quoted 305, my mini 5 64 cellular was quoted 60, or maybe here in Switerland we are quoted less
Sounds right, my perfect M1 11" 128GB WiFi Pro is called at £320 trade in. Probably get more on ebay.
Nope. I was thinking about getting a new ipad, but with the price and the fact that the magic keyboard is the only keyboard option I'm going to pass. Not sure what I'll do. Probably either see if I can get the Surface Pro going well enough to switch over or just keep plugging along on the 2018
Honestly I would rather drop it off at the Apple Store and get Apple Credit to use on Movies, Apps, etc. I think the Apple Credit even applies towards future Apple device purchases too.
I’m thinking about it… my 2018 12.9 64GB WIFI SG ipad has a $315 trade in value.. ebay pricing seems to be about $400 maybe, and what with fees and shipping I might end up with $320, so I’d far rather trade in with apple than sell third party.
But, the lack of a Smart Folio keyboard might be a deal breaker for me.. can’t really see why they didn’t just release that product other than greed and wanting to only sell MK

I never sell on ebay, too risky and too expensive. I generally sell locally. Takes longer but it's safer and can pay more.
Having said that, in the US trade-in is much better than where I live so in your case it might make sense. Here Apple quotes me 305 for a 128GB M1 12.9 5G
I’m on the fence also….was going to upgrade but don’t want to buy a new keyboard also….dumb. My trade in is $235…It might be a wash for an EBay sell….but definitely more of a hassle selling on EBay than just trading in. Not sure if I do that what to do with Magic Keyboard….it works fine but is starting to show wear for sure. 😞
I have a MK for my 2018, which has really NEVER been used.. seems like $175-185 on ebay is about right. I’m going to try and move it soon before the flood begins.
I’ve never had an issue with the Apple Trade In program….my Iphone 13 was a trade for the 15…no issues. But for sure more return for a local sale. However a “local” sale seems like it could be stressful with all the theft, etc.
I still have my 12.9” iPad pro from 2018 and seeing this announcement just gives me the same feeling it did back then with all these new specs; so what? You’re gonna put some new MacOS-like experience on the iPad now? Probably not. We’ll see later this year. I really want to be wrong.

My IPP might be pushing it though. I dropped it on concrete in the first week and it has a couple of chips in the enclosure. Apple says dents under 5mm are ok, but think this might be pushing it. Any one have any thoughts or experiences?

Well out of curiosity I put in my ipad info for trade and Apple said they’d give me $315 for it. Hmmm tempted.
After five and a half years of daily use I was slightly inclined towards finally upgrading my 2018 IPP model, despite not being overwhelmed with the really quite minor updates that have come in the intervening period - and including this week's.
I could cope with the cost of the hardware itself, but upon learning that I would need to re-purchase the Magic Keyboard and the Pencil when my existing ones are perfectly serviceable (though no longer compatible), then that adds £480 to the cost and takes it close to £2000. I just cannot justify that expenditure for the gains.
Maybe something really interesting will happen at WWDC with great IPad OS advances that need the new chip to take advantage of, but otherwise my 2018 model will need to soldier on a bit longer yet.
