27 has been a surprisingly good beta for me, no issues with any of my apps, and very small niggles which are not dealbreakers at all. Siri AI is good, but I can’t really say that I’ve been using it extensively - the muscle memory is not there yet.

The one thing that bothers me is battery life. My 17 Pro was an easy whole day phone on 26.5.1, and is now just short of one day, having to top it up around 7-8pm. Obviously this is not ideal.

Has anyone else tried 27, found it good except for battery life, and decided to roll back?

Typical for beta software. Lots of logging and other stuff going on that is not there in non beta releases. Even beta versions 26 to 27 can’t be compared fairly.

The battery life is optimised very late in the beta cycle and, historically, even after public releases come out, so we cannot expect a battery life of a very mature OS 26 in early betas of 27.

FWIW, I have been running iOS/iPadOS 27 betas on both my iPhone 17 and iPad Pro M5 since 9 June and can’t complain about battery life on either. I disabled the Share Analytics in Privacy & Security, but made no other changes. I would rather top-up my devices as needed than roll them back to 26.

Battery life is typical for a beta, it's got nothing to do with why I considered rolling back.

I like appleOS 26, and I'm still happily running Tahoe. I'm a bit disappointed with some of the changes, and did consider going back, but I'm on this ride now, so I'll see it through. There will be plenty more changes, and hopefully Apple keeps things pointed in the right direction.

Good point - and I would also hate to give up Siri AI now.

Just a note: if you downgrade to iOS 26, an iOS 27 backup can't be restored onto iOS 26 unless you have a backup made before you installed iOS 27...so bascially you lose all the new app data, messages, local settings.

True, but most of my app data is in iCloud for that very reason.

After b1 I was getting close to going back to iOS 26 due to the CarPlay reboots that kept happening. Thankfully b2 fixed that issue and some others. Very happy with b2 and where this is heading. Even as a beta I'm enjoying the smooth experience of iOS 27 more than I did the latest version of iOS 26.

I'm probably one of the few people that didn't have any issues with 26 (after 26.4 onwards). Curiosity got the better of me to try out Siri AI, but I can't say I find the performance of 27 b2 better than 26.5.1

Thought about going back but was too afraid of the back-up process. Staying on the 27 for the time being (autumn is soon anyway).

Too cumbersome of a process, IMO, so unless iOS 27 beta really degraded the performance of your device, I would recommend staying on the beta cycle, as it will only get better.
Eh? It's not cumbersome at all, you simply download the IPSW and restore with a computer. Then restore the backup made prior to installing the beta and it's done. It's about as complex as changing phones.

Well, this is provided a person had made an archived backup of iOS 26 before installing their beta, and they are comfortable with installing iOS with IPSW files.

Yes - iOS 27 on my iPhone 17 and macOS 27 on my older M1 MacBook Pro both got rolled back to 26. Tbh, I am happy with version 26 software and didn't see a need running beta software, especially when I have some pretty critical apps that need to be always working for my daily life.

Honestly, I don't know why I'd bother. The 27 beta runs almost perfectly on my 16e and M1 iPad Pro. No battery drain or anything.

No, I hated iOS 26 like nothing else I’ve used. iOS 27 fixes that for me, so I’ll struggle with minor bugs for now!
26 is a mess. Visual and UI glitches galore. I still have the latest version on my phone as I do not put betas on my phones. But I am sorely tempted. On my iPad Pro, 27 is worlds better than 26. Some expected issues but just a far better experience. Battery life has been fine. Haven’t really noticed any issues in that regard. My devices are the latest: iPhone 17 Pro Max and M5 13” iPad Pro. 26 on the phone looks like some kid’s device and the iPad looks like a truly professional one. I would never go back.

I'm on 26. I think it's unfixable, and even the developers gave up and couldn't fix the glitches, icon refreshes, battery, etc., even at this late mature stage - it's the first iOS that can't even draw the icons without glitching out.

The hope i have is iOS27 is really rebuilt from the ground up, and I’m tempted to install it, as I can't imagine worse battery life than OS26. I won't install yet, as I can't risk losing iCloud data or my Apple Music library; which happened in an isolated case a couple of iOS versions ago when we were in a development beta cycle.

If you have critical apps, why would you even put a beta in the first place?

For the first time ever, the newest iPhone with the best battery life on its original iOS version loses to last year’s model.

The inefficiency of Liquid Glass is so severe that the 16 Plus (the best battery life iPhone of the 16 series) on iOS 18 wins in real-world battery life (regardless of Apple’s specs) vs the 17 Pro Max on iOS 26.

That has never happened before. I have the 16 Plus on iOS 18, and surprisingly, it’s still the best battery life ever on an iPhone.

Beta 2 introduced many new bugs with Automations, laggy animations and heating issues to my 15 Pro. Im quite sad beta 3 didn't drop this week but I didn't expect Apple to break with their 2 week schedule. Unlike 26, these early betas of 27 haven't been a miserable experience and I don't plan on downgrading.
