I have not but do not trust it even if it was available here.

For several years now in my area of Los Angeles, we've had non-flying drones delivering take out food orders. Picture a a large box with wheels scooting along the sidewalks.

Flying drones would probably require a much more skilled pilot than these wheeled drones need.

Yup.
They are around in some areas of the UK.

Unfortunately some idiots vandalise them… knock them over or just generally abuse the little things.
Some people are just born ****s.

In the UK? That’s funny. Wouldn’t work where I live. No pavements in the country. As for flying drones I’m not a fan.

I didn't realize this was happening yet.
Me neither. I don’t see how it would be practical without serious coordination. So the package will be left on the sidewalk in front of a highrise. What about all the pedestrians? Get out of the way or it takes a chunk out of you? ;) Or would the rooftop need a designated landing pad? Packages delivered to doorsteps in the suburbs seems more doable, but still some issues.

Coordination; yup....the ground based drones around my area require somebody to be home. Somebody has to go remove the stuff (mostly food deliveries so far) from the drone.

The drones are equipped with multiple cameras and have remote human drivers looking out for cars and pedestrians. They slow down when approaching a group of pedestrians and are quite cautious about crossing streets. Sometimes it's obvious that the drone driver is waiting for a pedestrian to show up so that they can safely follow the human across the street.

I suppose that out in the suburbs flying drones might just deposit your package on your driveway.....or front lawn....or wherever the pilot feels like it (which is what delivery drivers currently do)

Ha... this is awesome! Do you know if people are steeling them or vandalizing them? I haven't seen any in my neck of the woods, but that is pretty cool!
