Cool thanks. Just watching a video review and the guy talks about it not recognising sometimes. Bit of a worry.Just tried plugging my new 16.2" into my LG 5k, and it seems to be working great. Speakers and camera on the LG 5k both work.
Just added another cheap Asus monitor in another TB4 port and it works fine too. I'm also going through my CalDigit TS3+ and all of the accessories are working.
So far so good!
Thanks man im loving it.. Just hoping it safe to keep it docked over night and not create any battery damage to the Macbook pro.Just tried plugging my new 16.2" into my LG 5k, and it seems to be working great. Speakers and camera on the LG 5k both work.

It will be fine. I leave mine connected 24/7 with no issues.I'm just needing to know if its safe to have my macbook pro connected to it over night / still docked?
Meaning does it effect it like over charge or anything?
Something is obviously not right. Did you try different ports on the MBP? I have same setup and it works fine…Because this Thread seems to be more appropriate than the other one I'll post my question here as well:
Hello everybody!
I got an all new MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro Base Model and my LG Ultrafine 5k charges it normally but it isn't detected as a Display or shows any kind of image. My old 15,4" 2018 Intel MacBook Pro runs the monitor without any problems. Both Monterey 12.0.1 and same cable connection (I tried both the original and a replacement cable, which worked fine with my 2018 MacBook Pro). The 5k is updated to its latest firmware (according to lg Screen Manager tested with my 2018).
Contacted Apple support with trying following steps:
- New Admin account -> nothing changed
- New Monterey Installation -> nothing changed
- Deleted the com.apple.windowserver....plist files in both Libraries with a reboot -> nothing changed
I am using a Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps 8k@30Hz/5k@60Hz replacement cable as well as the original one delivered by LG, but it still doesn't work.
Apple support told me to get in contact with LG which I did and they told me its a problem which has to be solved by apple. Now my Macbook Data is checked by Apple Technic Support within the next 7 days. (Update 14 days later: still no information.)
It doesn't appear in the system information, it says "no device connected" at any of the three TB4 Ports. Speed is 40 gbps x1 but Link width is 0x1 at all three ports.
As well there is no information at any of the connection Tabs, only in Power supply the battery gets charged but no further device detection anywhere.
Does anyone have the same issues and knows an answer to the problem apple does not know? Do I have to wait for a software update, is it a Monterey or M1 Pro problem? Any help is gladly appreciated!![]()
Thanks for your reply. I tried every port, different cables and it works just fine with my old MBP 2018 15,4 inch. Apple support still doesn't know an answer, I'm pretty frustrated right now. Can you tell me which exact cable you're using?
As I mentioned in my first post, I use this replacement cable (https://smile.amazon.de/gp/product/B093F5V5RP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), which has basically the same specs as your mentioned cable. It is suitable to do the job, especially because it works just fine with my older MBP, but if I just switch MacBooks with the same configuration, cable and even position on my desk, the new one just doesn't turn on.If you're using a long cable or a thin USB-C cable, it's prob not gonna work - not carrying enough data for the video.
Try a cable that is <1 meter long and that is marked / advertised to be thunderbolt 3 or 4 compatible. I've had good luck with this one:
Anker USB-C to USB-C Thunderbolt 3.0 Cable (2.3 ft)
Thunderbolt cables are a mess right now. Here is a snippet from a prior post of mine:
USB-C / Thunderbolt cable standards are a mess. If you get a TB3/4 cable that is 1 meter or less, you should be in good shape. It should do both TB 3/4, DisplayPort, and high speed USB. But, some >1 meter USB-C TB3/4 cables do not transmit high speed (USB 3.0) signals or DisplayPort.
For instance, this 2m Belkin cable does high speed TB3/4, but is limited to only slower USB (2.0) speeds and would NOT work for some monitors (because no DisplayPort):
