Why would you want to hide newstand? For example, I have the NYTimes, New Yorker, The Magazine and Racecar Engineering on it; I keep mine on the first page.

Because some people have no need for it or never use it:D
It would be nice to have the option of sticking it in a folder just like stocks for example that I never use either.

I'd rather be able to delete them for later re-download, if I ever decided I wanted them. I have a 4S 64GB with only about 3GB of room left. I'd like to free up some more space...

Agreed! Stocks is not one of Apple's best creations. Bloomberg is a lot better and offers more features.

You could use this
http://rag3hack.no-ip.org/hide.html
It's basically the same thing just go to that page on your iPhone. Works like a charm and its easy to use.
You could also use this to hide any other unwanted app like stock, calendar, reminder, Game Center, etc.

Thank you.
But I noticed if you restart the phone the icons that you hide come back:(

I noticed that too. It says "if you reboot your device the hidden icons will come back". Does reboot mean a restart of the iphone or will re-springing have the same effect ? I rarely restart my phone but re-spring quite often.

+1 for stifle stand, it's for windows now too so I don't see why you still need alternatives...

Just used stiflestand for Windows. Super easy and no issues. Newsstand was pissing me off as I couldn't put everything in folders like I like (my OCD wouldn't allow for everything BUT Newsstand to be in a folder) and now all is right in the world again!
