I turned mine off, but im from an android background and we dont have 3D touch.

I have a 6s+

I might turn it back on and play around but for what I use phone for at moment does not impact it's use.

I think the reason you can get away with having it off is b.c it is nowhere near a critical feature. A lot of the features end up being flat out useless IMO. For example, peeking into email. You already get a 2 line preview (or more in settings) by default. Peeking is such a small view that you end up having to "pop" into it. I find it more difficult to try and integrate 3D touch into my daily routine. Multitasking and a cursor are what it does best. I have had 3D touch since its introduction, so it is not something that I need to get use to.

I have turned it back on since my comment.

Other than being able to move curser when typing which is handy not seen anything to shout about.

Not tried peeking.

but I use outlook and gmail app for email anyway not the apple app.

I use it all the time. I sometimes forget that my iPad Pro doesn't have it. I kinda wish it did.

that is the weirdest thing to me, and probably even more of a reason 3D touch feels irrelevant. They build IOS around devices that do not support it. If all of their devices had it, I am sure it would be crucial.

I love it and use it all the time. Only issue that's strange now is using it to preview an email. Before iOS 10 the preview would last until I let go or swiped it away to the trash. Now the preview only stays up a moment then goes away back to the regular email. Don't know if that's a bug or an intentional change. Liked it better when the preview stayed up as long as I held the 3D touch position.

Previews stay on screen until I let go. Maybe you have an issue with your device.

I use it when typing all the time. Like others, I try to use it on my iPad Pro and get irritated when it doesn't work.

I went from an iPhone 6 to a 7. The thing that bugs me about it is when I'm in safari sometimes I have trouble clicking links now. It doesn't always open the first tap. Sometimes it thinks I want to do the peek thing or it highlights what I'm trying to open and blurs out everything around what I'm tapping. I don't really use it on the home screen either. One and awhile I've been trying it but mostly only on the settings app when I want to get to the battery stats quickly. Otherwise I don't see much use for anything else! Why not just open the app? Most of the short cuts open the app to a place in the app anyway. What's faster? Force pressing then releasing to open the app in a specific spot in the app or just tapping the app open and tapping to the place you wanted to be? Not much difference. In other words, I guess it's kind of neat but really isn't necessary in most cases. I'm thinking about turning it off so I can use safari without having to think about how hard I tap on links again. It's slowing me down!

My EXACT thought

opening a safari link just seems messed up at the moment

I always forget it even existed. I think the "issue" is that i am so used to the work flow of not having it that i just cant to seem to find it useful in anyway. I never use spotlight either for the same reason. Habits i guess

I won't turn it off simply for the 3D touch keyboard cursor feature. I use other iPhones and always get frustrated when trying to move the cursor because I use it so often.

Other uses are a bit gimmicky unless I start to make myself utilize them.

I use it all the time. It's probably because my 6s is my first iPhone, so I've never had an iPhone that didn't have it. None of my previous Android phones had it either, but for some reason it didn't require any adjustment period for me.

I ended up turning it off, seemed I never remembered to use it and the thing I tried to do 3D touch just got in the way.

mostly safari opening new tabs and copy/pasting

I didn't realize how much I used it until I went back to an iPhone 6 for a few weeks before the 7 came out. Mine is permanently on. I use it all the time for the keyboard cursor function, app switcher, quick launches etc...

I haven't used 3D Touch much.
Maybe I'm not sure how or what it's advantages are.
What do you guys use it for and on what screens that you find it helpful?

I use it all the time.

Homescreen:
- Calling frequent contact from the (Phone icon)
- Sending a text to a frequent contact (Messages icon)
- Opening Safari to a new tab from the (Safari icon)
- Getting a glance at the Weather (Weather icon)
- Going straight to Battery and Wifi settings (Settings icon)
- A lot of the third party apps that I use (Dark Sky, Facebook, Shazam, Sky Guide, Amazon, etc.) have great widgets/shortcuts from their homescreen app icons.

Within apps, you can preview links before going to them (Safari, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and plenty of other things.

Also, from Control Center, you can 3D touch the flashlight icon to get different intensities of brightness (Low, Medium, Bright) which is really handy in certain settings.

There are many other great uses of 3D touch, but these are just the ones I could easily think of that I use every day.
