Basically what the title says. Did you guys notice an increase in battery life? I might make the jump if it’s a lot better.

I think it varies. Part of that will depend on the settings and usage for somebody to say how good their battery life is with the iPhone 8 over the iPhone 7. So it's hard to get an accurate measurement being its variable. But I will say the iPhone 8 Plus has excellent battery life.

He asked about people going from the 7 plus to the 8 plus. I would assume their settings and usage would be the same since it would be the same user, don’t ya think? Therefore those experiences could help the OP in making an informed decision on a purchase. Since you make no mention of going from a 7 plus to an 8 plus yourself, you aren’t contributing the information the OP was asking for.

To me, Yes iphone 8plus has better power management and better battery life as compared to iphone 7 plus, even with a smaller battery.

The contribution is pointing out that someone else's experience won't necessarily be indicative of what it might be like for anyone else. Given the variety of things we see people experience when it comes to all kinds of things in many different threads, for example, seems like that's a fairly relevant and pragmatic thing to point out.

Not in the sense when others don't share those same instances of settings/usage in from what one member will say contradictory to someone else's own experience, which there is no one answer because all users vary and have differing results. When others ask "Have you noticed an increase from one phone to another", it's difficult to give such an accurate metric because battery life varies from user to user, which no one will share the same experience or typical results pending their own usage, which threads with "How is the battery" life is contradictory in nature due to others experiences. It's more or less stating the obvious even if I didn't answer the OP's question directly, I still offered my own view point based on these specific instances.

7+ 10 months old, but got an 8+ (after trying X and then feeling I wanted SOMETHING new). Same apps, same usage and charging pattern. 8+ battery life is better. Not substantially, but noticeably.

I upgraded from iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone X. Massive battery life increase. My 7 Plus was routinely running out at 3PM. The X lasts into the next day with 10+ hours of usage. The 8 Plus has even better battery life than the X. Make the jump.

My 8 Plus definitely has better battery life than my 7 Plus did. It’s not the placebo effect either. Same usage patterns, restored from a backup so all settings are the same. I used to end my day @ about 25 - 35% and now with the 8 Plus I’m @ 50 - 60%.

The 8 plus is as good or better than the 7 plus, and it has a smaller battery. If they could have managed to fit the slightly larger 7 plus battery into the 8 plus, it could have been even better.

I’m very impressed with the battery life on my 8+! It’s one of the best things about the phone! I came from an iPhone 6.

Am I the only one who found the iPhone 7 Plus battery life to be short in general? Felt shorter than a 6s or even the 6 I had way back when...

Thanks guys! Is it only better than your 7 Plus running iOS 11? Or is it still better when compared to your 7 Plus running iOS 10? Back when it’s battery life was actually good.

The whole point of this thread is to see how MUCH better the battery life is of the 8 Plus and get an average of how many more hours it’ll last longer than a 7 Plus. That way, 7 Plus users can get a rough idea of what to expect.

Asking someone who has had both phones is as close to accurate as it gets. The usage patterns are the same. Settings are the same. It’s far more accurate than just asking “how is the battery life of the 8 Plus”.

You’re really overthinking this. My 8+ has been better than my 7+. Unless you’re stuck on a deserted island, will it really matter? Who doesn’t have access to a charger if needed in today’s world.

I need the best possible battery life. But I need to know how much better it is to make my decision.

That's what I tried to say but ended up with a big long-winded reply that still didn't answer your question. He just likes to post a lot.

My battery life has been much better I believe due to the A11 chip. I have a lot of exchange emails coming through daily, it used to be very taxing on my 7Plus (where I'd have to charge it up at some point during the day). With the 8Plus my email is not nearly as big a strain and the 8Plus can make it the entire day without concerns of needing to charge it.

Battery life is great. I was worried I would get less than my 7+, but it is truly about the same, if perhaps a bit longer lasting.

I have 57 charge cycles on my release day 8+, that means in over 90 days i've had to fully charged it less than 60 times. Not bad.

Its comparable to iOS 10 iPhone 7 Plus but I still say my 7 Plus on iOS 10 lasted slightly longer than X on iOS 11

Whoa. This is exactly what I was thinking. So they worsened the battery life of the 7 Plus with iOS 11, and made the 8 Plus last as long as the 7 Plus when it was on iOS 10. It’s not any better, just feels better because the 7 Plus dies so fast on iOS 11.

The same thing happened when I updated my 6s to iOS 10. On iOS 9, I could use the phone for 8 hours with the screen on. On iOS 10 it dropped to around 6:45-7 hours. Upgraded to an iPhone 7. 8 hours screen on time! Lol.
