Anyone in the same boat. my Apple Watch buying trend has been series 3 stainless steel, to series 5 titanium. Looking to buy the series 7 since it’s a slight redesign with the bigger display, brighter aod, faster charging, and slightly bigger display. I highly highly doubt series 8 will be a new design so I can skip next year. I wager series 9 will likely be a same design and series 10 might be the bigger shift in design.

those on series 6 are you noticing an upgrade in speed from the 5? Sometimes my series 5 hangs and take a while to process commands. I’d also like to take my watch without my phone and fast charging might help with this since I can pick up a charge in between getting ready for bed or going out to start my day and showing. and overnight tracking so the fast charging is appealing to me.

i Like the series 7 titanium or the black stainless steal.

I have a 44mm SBTi series 5 and I just pre-ordered a 45mm SBTi Series 7. For me it feels like a huge upgrade since its S6 + S7. I am excited and quite happy it didnt get a serious redesign. I think the current watch looks nice. But thats just my opinion. =]

Yes, I have owned series 5 and series 6. I noticed meaningful speed improvement with series 6.

There were also lots of other small improvements that made using series 6 a much better experience.
- The 20% faster charging on series 6 (vs. series 5) was even very welcome and noticeable on day-to-day use
- AOD was noticeable brighter.
- Support for 5GHz Wi-Fi made file transfers way more quicker on series 6 (I usually transfer large podcast episodes to watch for offline listening when untethered)
- Blood oxygen sensor now measures respiratory rates during sleep (if you plan on tracking your sleep)

Frankly I have never understood the tech reviewers who claimed last year that series 6 was a small upgrade over series 5.

Series 5 to 7 is fine, but definitely not Series 6 to 7.
I like to upgrade my Apple gear every year but this Series 7 update is really too minor.

That’s good. How’s the speed when creating reminders, or using third party apps. I always find the series 5, while better than the 3, still somewhat slow.

I like 5e fact they state it’s 70% brither aod right?

I upgraded from an Apple Watch Series 5 SS to Series 7 Aluminum. If next year's model has any improvements, I might go with SS or Titanium. I've been on the fence between a fancy 'dumb' watch for dressy occasions vs an aluminum model for everyday use.

I had a similar experience as you with series 5. It felt somewhat slow from time to time. With series 6 there has never been an instance where it felt slow.

The AW 7 is quite expensive. I want sapphire glass and the price for that watch is the same as a new iPhone 13 mini.

I can't see much attraction in the AW 7 since my 5 is working just great right now. If there's a redesign with features that I can access in my region (no ECG or Intercom here...) I'll consider it. But really, I'd prefer to just replace the battery. Couldn't be happier with my 5!

Apple forces us to have the cellular version if we choose the stainless steel model and charges us for that too. 🤦🏻

I’m upgrading from my space grey aluminium S5 to… Well, I ordered a midnight S7 in hope it will be more black than blue. Then I ordered a SS graphite S7. Then a space black titanium. Now I have to decide which of them I am going to keep.

If I keep the aluminium I have to use a case half of the time because it scratches too easy. On the other hand the aluminium Watch isn’t that expensive and it wouldn’t hurt too much to upgrade to the S8 if it comes with major improvements.

The SS graphite would be my first choice to keep at the moment. But I still couldn’t find out if it has the dlc coating or not this year. I see no benefit in a watch with a case probably full of scratches after a few weeks. And this will happen to the SSG if there is no dlc coating.

Then there is the space black titanium with dlc. This is the Watch that brings everything I am asking for, BUT it looks nearly identical to my space grey aluminium watch. You need to come close to see a real difference between them. And for the price of the titanium I could get two al watches or a brand new iPhone 13..

Those are the real problems today!

I had a Series 2 stainless steel and upgraded to a Series 5 (also stainless) when it came out. The battery life on the S5 is just starting to show some signs of aging. If I were not an Apple employee, I probably would not have ordered the Series 7- I would've waited one more year for the Series 8. Also, those first two watches were paid for almost entirely by gift cards from reward points.

I have series 5 space black SS. It’s in perfect condition and has 89% battery left. I wait for next year I hope for a redesign than and a comeback for space black SS.

I am going from a 5 to a 7. Verizon says it should ship on Friday. Main reasoning is that my wife's 3 is starting to need recharging around 8 every night so she will get the 5 handed down to her.

I also like that except there is a caveat. There is always a "but". Yes they say the AOD is 70% brighter only its always followed by "when inside". So while still great and a feature I will gladly accept, it's not an all the time type thing.

I'm in the same generation boat as you. I was hesitant to pay full price for Apple Watches because I was unsure if I'd use them, so I went from a refurbished S3 SS to a preowned S5 Titanium and this year I said screw it and preordered a 45mm Titanium.

I am happy with my 5, but might upgrade to the 7 anyway. Probably stainless since I have more $$ in bands than in the watch. I would like to see Titanium in person, however, so might hold out until I make it to an Apple store.

Yah that me!!! I did the same thing. I was skeptical about the Apple Watch so I bought a used one on eBay. Stainless steel series 3. I definitely like using the Apple Watch and have started using the cellular functionality since my carrier has Apple Watch data for $5. Been enjoying going out without my phone.
