Just wondering if anyone uses the Hitachi 7k500 HDD. I'm thinking about getting one (only $75 w/ free shipping on newegg). It seems to get mixed reviews. Some say it's quiet/fast some say it's loud.

Just wondering if anyone has some personal experience they would share.

I put one in my mbp a couple days after getting it. It works great, havn't noticed anymore sound than the original 320gb 5400rpm it came with. When I was asking about hdd's over a month ago, this was recommended by many members. Buy one, enjoy it!

Great HD; haven't noticed any difference in vibration/noise over the stock HD. Best 2.5" 500GB 7200RPM on the market.

Yup I have 2 in a Raid 0...no vibrations or loud noise for me. Doesn't get very hot either. Overall very happy with my decision.

Have had mine in my Peryn MBP since December and has been fantastic. I think I paid $89 for mine at Frys.

put one in a few weeks ago, and it's been perfect. Somewhere on this forum is a write-up of my hard drive transfer experience. I know I paid more than you, and still not a single regret. It's great having lots of space, and it's fast/quiet.
