Has anyone used Homebrew?

It is a package manager for OS X. I am wondering if it is any good or if it is really buggy.

I'm also looking into installing Portage -> Prefix (From Gentoo) on OS X but it seems to be a decent amount of work for all of the ebuilds.

Thanks for the link. I checked both out and I'm going to go with Homebrew. It works well so far.

I used MacPorts on my previous Macs but on my new home and work machines I have tried only using Homebrew and so far I'm very happy after about 5 months. These are development systems and so far everything I've needed has been available and haven't had anything not work.

The biggest difference is that I measure installs in minutes or seconds rather than tens of minutes or hours. There's something to be said for simplicity, and so far Homebrew seems to be simpler than Macports. Time will tell if it stays that way.

I certainly recommend giving it a try.
