I've purchased my AirPods Pro 3 on February 3, 2026 and exclusively use it with my MacBook Pro M4. Since purchase, I've always had "Optimized Charge Limit" turned on in settings and the pods were always charged up to 80% and on occasion, maybe once a week, to 100%.

However, since upgrading to macOS 26.5 (from 26.4.x) it seems the "Optimized Charge Limit" is being ignored and my pods always charge to 100%. I was wondering if anyone noticed this since upgrading to macOS 26.5.

Un-Paired/Re-Paired pods to Mac. Reset pods. Same thing.
Pods firmware: 8B40

Just an update... I had my pods replaced by Apple. Changed nothing. Same thing. So I think this must be a macOS 26.5 issue. Filed a bug report with Apple.

Do you use your APP3 with an iPhone or iPad? If so maybe the setting in the other device is overwriting the firmware settings of the APP3 which is what controls optimized charge. MacOS itself doesn't do anything other than set the APP3 firmware to control optimized charge.

I use mine with the iPhone Pro 15, iPad Pro 11 M1 and the MBP M3 have experienced any charging issues if not used a lot seems to charge in low power mode and if used frequently goes to 100%.

I mostly (99.9%) use it with my Mac. I seriously doubt it's another device's setting because I purchased the pods in February and for nearly 3 months they charged correctly. Then all of a sudden, after the 26.5 update it always charging to 100%.

MacOS does have an "Optimized Charge Limit" setting that you can toggle on/off (just like on the iPhone and iPad). All my other devices have the "Optimized Charge Limit" turned on so regardless which I use the pods should charge to 80% most of the time, just like when I purchased them.

But whatever. Such is life, I guess.
