Hey guys! I am currently using a WP7 device and was thinking of switching over to an iPhone  However, the only thing bothering me is the FB integration. For example, I can access FB chat directly from my messages app, and even after quitting that, I remain online and friends from FB can start chatting any time of the day as long as I have a data connection. Does iOS 5 have something similar to that? I tried searching and it seems some people have good things to say about IM+, but does it work in the background?

Appreciate all the help :)

Out of the box it doesn't have integration except u can download and use facebook app which does have push notifications. You can also use 3rd party IM clients like IM+, trillian, beejive. All of them are enabled to run in background as well but it doesn't have full integration like WP7 does

I use both

iPhone has nothing that really integrates both...though theoretically one could be written, as 3rd party apps are supported for SMS messaging (they can send, and I believe display conversations, though I may be wrong there)

However, Facebook makes a pretty wonderful messages app for iOS. It is essentially the same chat functionality that is baked into the Facebook App, but it is stripped out into its own app so that you get a more streamlined experience. It has push notifications, etc and works well. I've used it. Its not as great as the windows phone version, but it works well enough

Thanks for the replies! So if I were to, say, start the chat app and put the phone to sleep, people would still see me online? And I would get chat messages instantly?
