Yeah. I have to keep Siri in the tiniest possible box to not end up just doing this.
Oh God, that clip of Larry David perfectly sums up my interactions (and replies) to Siri. I got so pissed off at her a few weeks ago calling her names and after about 8 names she said "It sounds like you are having a bad day, I'll play some soothing music..." Kind of funny since my wife keeps telling me Siri will one day kill me when Apple gives her some AI smarts (but at the rate Apple is going, this will probably be 2062)...🙄

Well, 18.4, general release yesterday, brought all this back. Using the HomePod pair and the ATV device to play tv audio, the sound now drops out of one pod or the other, switching back and forth. The audio does not drop out, come back, drop out again, as it did with 18.2, creating a motorboat sound as it did back then. But the audio, while constant, will switch to one pod or the other. If I look at one pod, the light up top will be off, while it’s lit on the other one, then this switches back and forth. I have restarted all devices, and the issue continues. I noticed it immediately after 18.4 was installed and hoped a restart would clear it up. I’m quite frustrated as when this works, it makes for a very good home theater system, but every software release screws something up. I am completely fed up with them and will either just use the tv speakers or look at a reliable soundbar. This setup is not reliable in the least.

Now the issue has even extended to playing music playlists. The sound is switching from one pod to the other, with the volume on one diminishing to almost inaudible, while the other stays elevated; this rotates back and forth. This software has really messed up the ATV and HomePods. Are any others noticing audio issues, even separately from tv audio?

Speaking of using HomePods, is anyone else experiencing 1-2 second sound drops (silence) in the middle of songs every 10-15 minutes??? This has been going on for 6 months. Happens on my new style large HomePods (paired) and OG HomePods (paired). Apple, what is going on????

I was using my OG HomePods as speakers for my TV in the garage (man cave). But I started to have problems with the early 18.4 betas so I disabled using the HomePods as speakers for the TV (I use my APP2 probably 99% of the time). Apple has a huge mess on its hands with the HomePods and Siri...

It was really bad after the 18.4 release. I didn’t use any of the betas, but after multiple restarts of the pods, I left the ATV alone, things improved dramatically. I had restarted all devices: ATV, Tv, Fios cable box, and unplugged both pods. Started everything back up and there was no improvement, but then I restarted just the pods using the Home app and that seems to have fixed it. I was ready to toss the whole set-up in the trash, but I have to say that it sounds really good right now. I’m hoping to avoid any updates for a while; each one has caused me quite a headache.

I'm using the latest updates with an Apple TV 4K and two original HomePods in a stereo pair as the TV output. No issues at all so far.

I will still avoid as many updates as I can for a while. Everything is perfect right now.

I started reading this thread, was a little bit disappointed, I started another post today asking the question of the Home pods replacing a sound bar. Now you sound happy. Thank you ignatius345 and papbot for making me feel better. (Mods, feel, free to merge my previous post with this one.)

I rarely have issues with my big Homepod 2's in their stereo pair connected to the AppleTV. The Minis in the kitchen, though, sometimes go out of whack (twice a month maybe)?
