Just curious how many mac users out there are using the me.com email as their main and accessing it through iCloud.

I was using gmail for about 10 years and finally, I've decided that they don't offer me the privacy I want anymore. So, I grabbed a hotmail email address (and the 25GB of skydrive space!) and somehow, I've managed to get a me.com email address too which ic connected through iCloud. I'm a minimalistic guy so I was pondering just making the me.com email my primary.

    Any thoughts or feedback?

I do as of a few weeks ago. I've used Hotmail for about 10 years, then Gmail for a year or so and now iCloud that I have an iPhone and Macbook Pro. I have both my Hotmail and Gmail forward to iCloud and changed over every thing to that address.

Still using Gmail as primary because of its tremendous spam filtering.

I'm using iCloud as my primary for actual "people." Still have my old Gmail setup for all my online accounts/spammy messages though - but I like the syncing capabilities of iCloud a little better.

I use iCloud for all my real email. My old Gmail account gets used as a junk collector now. iCloud email works really well if you use a Mac and/or any iDevices. I rarely use the web portal in iCloud.

The dedicated Mail apps on Mac and iOS and their nice integration with the OS designed for the hardware you are using are far better than the web based email solutions out there in my opinion including Gmail.

Yup, that's the way I do also. The ability to send message larger than 10 MB. is really nice.

I've been using my .Mac address, then MobileMe, and now iCloud address since about 2006. :)

Same here. I use my iCloud for actual people and more important things (bills, services, etc.) and use my old gmail for signups or the like.

Just to chime in, I've used my Mac.com as my primary since I bought my first MBP. Recently switched to iCloud and got the me.com domain as well. Never a problem.

I would love to use my iCloud email as my main. But at school the iCloud website is blocked for some reason (It doesn't even give it a reason like it does for every other site.) Which is a shame.

I wish I had a .mac email address. Always wanted one but didn't bother signing up until after MobileMe came along.

Since I got my iPhone 4S I've been somewhat using my iCloud address for the main stuff. Back when I switched to gmail I sent out a mass email to all my friends and family and made sure everything was transferred properly. Now, I just wait for them to email me then send them my updated email.

If you're using Apple stuff, it syncs great. I never had many problems with Gmail itself but the whole iCloud package makes everything work just how I like it.

Completely happy with @me.com since day it launched. Redirect my other accounts to it.

I never use @me.com; I think it looks cheesy.

I've used the same mac.com address since iTools came out in December 2000. It works well. There have been outages, but they were more back during the MobileMe days. And of course, I suppose you can never really tell if there are e-mails you don't receive because how would you know most of the time?

I have stayed with this account mainly out of wanting to be consistent with my e-mail address. If I were starting fresh, I would go with Gmail because of the constantly expanding free storage. Once iCloud's restrictions take place for converted MobileMe members (downgrading to 5 GB storage), I'll have to trim my archived e-mail quite a bit to make room for my iOS backups.
