I would really love to use Konqueror on my OSX system for file management, remote file management, etc.

I can't see if it is really in development, or supported at all ... most postings/howto are dated all the way back to 2006 or so ...

So before I dive in, is anyone here using Konqueror on OSX ? Any hints or warnings before I dive in ?

I am mostly interested in being able to browse fish:// or sftp:// URLs from a file manager, which I cannot do in the Finder...

Thanks.

Can't help you with Konquerer, but Krusader fans should look at Path Finder. It''s like Krusader on steroids. When I'm on my Linux machine, I keep trying to use Path Finder features (like the slide-out panels) that Krusader doesn't have...

Konquerer seems to be dying a slow death. It's been replaced by Dolphin in KDE4.x as the standard file manager, and in Kubuntu it's been replaced with ReKonq as the standard web browser.

I always found the file manager/web browser combo to be a bit strange.

I'm obviously a Krusader fan. Can't stand Dolphin.

Krusader is a dual-pane file manager inspired by Midnight Commander, as is Path Finder.

But it sounds like you really aren't looking for Konquerer. You're looking for KIO on OSX. KIO is the system that provides the various protocols, fish://, sftp://, etc. Problem is, KIO is pretty deeply embedded in KDE. It's not limited to Konquerer - it works in a large variety of KDE programs (including, of course, Krusader and Dolphin), not just file managers.

Ok. Do any of pathfinder/krusader have sftp:// ability built in ? You're right, I'm not so interested in Konqueror as I am in just having a sftp/fish/ssh capable file manager...
