HomeKit Anyone using the beta: has 16.1 fixed the mess that is HomeKit or is it time to abandon the system?

I’ve pretty much had enough of Apple breaking HomeKit every update. Most of my automations no longer run or run randomly, do unexpected things, etc.

Today, they’ve pretty much all just completely stopped. They work when you push the “test” button but not on their own.

Conditions that should be the same each time are giving random results.

I’ve pretty much had enough of this. So does anyone have any good news about 16.1 or is it exactly the same?

I was having problems with 16.0 with my setup (2 HomePod Minis + ATV 4K) where the HomePods would drop audio randomly and lose connection with the AppleTV, I'd have to reboot both. My automations have been a 50/50 chance of working. With 16.1 it's been a lot better, the audio drops and disconnects have completely stopped, and I think I had an automation fail, like once, since the update.

Same issues. Jut posted on a separate thread. Location based automations all fail. One of us, me, running latest public beta and still not working. Location based automations fail to run

In another thread someone suggested signing out of iCloud on your home hubs then signing back in. After that wait 10 minutes or so to give the hubs time to re-download your home setup. I've been having issues too. My plan when I get home from work today is to update everything to 16.1, see if that solves it. If not, try this sign out sign in dance.

Careful with that. Go one at a time starting with the least used HomePod in your setup.

When I first updated my HomePods to 16.0, a few of them were asking me to sign and it took 50+ tries before it actually let me sign in. Hopefully that’s fixed with 16.1 though.

I had broken automations with 16.0.x. I did not remove them and recreate them. The upgrade to 16.1 has them working again.

Edit - I also updated all my Homepod mini's as well.

16.1 has resolved the issues I was having as well. At least for now.
