Obviously, I'd prefer this one...

But there's no way I'm paying for it. The other looks like a reasonable alternative for considerably less cost. Looks like it might be a good way to free up a little extra space...

man thats just a rip, cool design but why not just get a elevator or a icurve and be able to do screen spanning and use both the laptop screen and the external screen. it also is good for heat flow.. when using a external monitor on a laptop it is good idea to keep the laptop open

I already have an icurve. I don't use my macbook open when connected to an external (and it's never caused a problem to use it closed, nor did it ever cause my powerbook a problem). The point is that I want to free up some desk space. The iCurve takes up a fair amount of space on the desk.

Haven't used anything like this and I guess I am just cheap because both seem overpriced to me. It's a small piece of metal. Maybe Ikea will design one and sell it for $10. Now THAT would be a deal.

Will that work for the MBP as well? (can't tell if it is adjustable) Speaking of the $40 one...not the $300+ one. 🙂
