Searched for this question, but didn’t see how to do it, and how it actually works. I am keeping my Apple Watch 6 since apple won’t give me anything for it, with my new 8. I would like to be able to use my 6 for sleep tracking and exercise, and my 8 graphite SS for work and when I’m out on the town.
Is there anything specific I need to do to make both of them work with each other, and to make sure it shares the activity/ sleep with the other watch? Hoping this is possible, and I won’t have to worry about my battery life anymore.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, I’m using a series 4 and a series 6. There’s an option in the settings even to just auto-switch between them. (Basically, when you put one on and then unlock it with your passcode, that becomes the active watch.)

The only annoyance is updating them (for me). I basically have to power down the one I’m not using, then update the one that’s still on, and then repeat with the other watch to update it.

You can have up to 5 watches paired, I currently have 3. Set the new watch up as new vs restore, or, unpair your old and then do a retire to the new and then the old again.

Thank you! Is there anything I need to enable to make this work? Should I set my old watch up as new or restore it from my 8?

it doesn’t matter. Either way works. As long as both watches are paired with the phone it will recognize both. I currently have an Ultra and Series 4 paired with my phone.

I have an Ultra, S7Ti, S6 SBti……….I use them interchangeably….you must have handoff on.
I usually turn off the fully charged ones so it has a full charge if I want to wear it.

Yup. I use my AW7 just for jogging and Ultra when I’m not working out. Hate switching bands when working out and when you’re done.

I am planning to use an S7 or 8 (depending on sales prices) for a dressy, lower key watch, on those days when my Ultra might seem too sporty. Love this new feature in the OS!

Just like what everyone else said, make sure the auto switch is on, both watches will sync after a few minutes of putting them on, I switch between 4 watches, S7 SSS, S7 SBTi, S5 Ceramic, and S5 Natural Ti, I never have a problem putting one on vs the others.

I use the Ultra during the day and my series 8 at night for sleep tracking. I also have a series 4 that is paired to the phone, that I occasionally wear.

It's very seamless. Just set the new watch up normally and give it a different name. The rest happens automatically. Like many others, I have a daily driver (graphite SS S8) and a workout watch (SS S4). I've set up completely different watch faces and apps since I use them differently, and that works just fine.

Yes I use a S5 Ceramic Edition during the day and S7 Stainless Steel for going out. The auto switch function on the Apple Watch app works seamlessly.

Lately, with 9.2 on the watches and 16.3 I think on phone, I have been having trouble switching seamlessly between two watches. It seems to switch, but things like Weather, Stocks, Activity are not syncing across. I have been resigned to unpair and re-pair more than twice now to be able to get the 2nd watch to sync and work accurately. Anyone know why this happens?
