I bought a 15" rMBP today. First one was an SJA2 LG panel. Asked for them to open another, and it was an SJA1. Third one was another SJA2. Kept the first one, as it was perfect cosmetically.

Hoping it has no issues. I have so far seen no IR/ghosting and no other issues of any kind. I've left some finder windows static for quite a while without any retention.

Curious to see if anyone posts about an SJA2 with IR. So far haven't been able to find any posts online from SJA2 owners who have the issue. Fingers crossed that LG fixed it.

I'm surprised/impressed by this. It seems like this would be a giant pain in the ass for them. Aren't they shrink-wrapped? Does opening it and doing this mean the laptop is no longer new? I'm curious as to how this scenario played out. Can you describe it for me?

Early `13 rMBP here, SJA1 panel

How can you tell which panel you have in a 13 inch rMBP?? I thought the command script did not worked on the 13 inch unit.

I returned my 2013 15" rMBP 2.7 with a Samsung panel for a 2.4 with the hopes I would receive a LG SJA2. I got what I wanted and I can tell you that the LG panels are much better visually than the Samsung. Colors are more vibrant and accurate not to mention the white point is much better. I did not really need the 2.7 so I saved myself the extra dollars and am now quite pleased. No image retention at all.

You just did the opposite most people are doing, hope it works for you on the long run.

I just saw a post on Apple's site which has a link to a japanese site that shows IR on a SJA2. I think I screwed up? Hard to say. I've now tested my rMBP probably 10 times today for IR and nothing has shown up but its still early. What to do????

I've Never bought applecare, but I'm sure these computers could have other issues since they are a new model, so I will for this. I have bad image retention and I hope they/we win the class action and get a free screen replacement...that functions 100%

Because I don't really want a samsung screen either since people say LG screens are better apart from this flaw.

Do you people know if people living outside the US can benefit from this lawsuit?

Cheers!

You have to wait several months to be sure.

9 months have passed since I purchased my Early 2013 15" rMBP with the LG SJA2 display. I have used it every day anywhere from 3-4 hours to 8-9 hours, and have no ghosting or image persistence whatsoever.

I suggest leaving your screen on at full brightness for at least one month straight. It's the only way you can absolutely 100% certain.

In other words, seriously? I think it's time we moved on from this.

Am not sure what you mean, but when I play tomb raider I can't see the game without it going everywhere like the when her hair would be at one corner of the screen and her body on the other is that ghosting? If so I think I should take mine back and get it replaced cuz it's only 1 week old hmmm.
