Yes I am a bit surprised ...
Everyone was able to see if the minor differences (compared to U2) were significant enough to justify the upgrade...
No need to order the watch to see that.
Apple is very strong to make tons about new features, and it was really not impressive this year, another proof of the little amount of changes.

I just sold my mint AWU2 on Swappa (battery health was 98%). After Swapppa & Paypal fees I netted $426.
Swappa is a listing site and while that is a good price I have to create the listing and take pic etc...
I was thinking of selling to a reseller site. I got an offer of $325 and they pay for shipping and insurance.

I'll take another look at Swappa as they are the least risky. Its been a while since I have been there.

Another option to consider, I think Apple's trade in value is roughly comperable to the offer you received.

Huge Mistake AWU2 to AWU3 traded in a AWU2, for $335 had to pay $500 bucks for the same device I just gave in there is NOTHING
NOTHING the AWU3 offers Bigger display CAN NOT Tell cases and display covers are the same.

Satellite Texting when will that ever be used in South Florida? Never

I basically wasted $500 bucks.

If only there was a way you could have looked at the specifications and new features prior to purchase.

Somewhat embarrassingly it turns out that Apple does have a comparison feature on their website.

Who knew?

Maybe in his defence he did what I did and traded in the Ultra a week or so before the keynote, in order to maximise the trade in.

However, that is the risk you take. As it happens I’m happy with my 2 year U2 -> U3 upgrade. Not massive, but an upgrade and the battery life is insane.

I am really liking this AWU3. Smoother, significantly faster/better reception, screen is pleasant to look at - at all directions (even when peaking while talking to people), and battery life is settling down - I assume it will only get better as they refine Watch OS 26.

I've run Low Power Mode for a night and almost an entire day and it is significantly improved - I bet I could get 5 days out of it and still get most of the stats I want. :D

I just switched from AWU1 to AW3, my battery was starting to be less efficient.

I wanted to buy the new Ti link band for AW1, so I bought AW3 directly with Ti link band saving something (100€).

Regarding the improvements you listed, I have to say that I find the watch much more responsive than AW1, Siri works much better and I must say that the double tap and wrist flick gestures are very comfortable.
The screen is brighter and more readable.

In my case I am satisfied with the change
I ended up doing the same. I also agree with you that the gestures are actually the biggest thing I notice and do make the watch easier/better to use.

A lot of the changes are nice to have but rarely will use them - e.g. hypertension alerts, satellite, sleep apnoea, media playback. The screen is better but marginally so.

I don’t have any regrets as my watch was dying partway through long workouts, but it’s not a night and day difference.
