Always been curious if anyone with the 12 Pro Max have an extra or smaller/back up phone for those occasions you don’t want to carry the Max around? If so what is it? An SE, Mini?

Personally, no, and I have no idea what those situations would be where I’m not supposed to have a phone, but then show up with one a bit smaller than what I prefer.
Well certainly, you don’t always want to carry that brick? Nicking, walking etc ….

good point! just tough on those long hikes etc..
Way too many devices in my life. Actually looking to cut down lol.
Yeah, i feel your pain... have the 12.9 ipad and macbook pro and work PC.. feel like that's all a bit much.. cant decide what to keep, To be honest the 12.9 ipad has really surprised me and much faster than the macbook pro IMO

Indeed! I finally bought an iPad this year but it may be the device I don't upgrade/get another when its time is over. Don't get me wrong, iPads are great and serve a lot of people's needs- I just think a MacBook and a Max iPhone is good for me (and a PC at work, which stays at work). Every time a message or call comes in like 4 devices ring currently. LOL. First world problems, I suppose.

I think I've followed some of your posts and seems the iPad does what you need it to so maybe that can be your primary and keep the MacBook for the things iPad may not be able to do yet. Plus the A-series, M1 chips are just so quick and efficient, especially compared the intel chips in the older MacBook's.

To your hiking/activity point- I have thought about it before and if I were to have a backup, it'd probably be an iPhone SE or maybe a iPhone 7 or 8 I wouldn't care about breaking or losing, plus its relatively tiny and light.

Anyway, I'm rambling. My bad haha.

haha - yeah its great when all the devices are dinging! LOL... yeah mainly use ipad for media/travel etc... so that works well... its the MBP i use least actually... which is NOT what i expected. The 12.9 can almost be a computer, and I did not expect that...

I have a 12PM and a 12Mini. The PM gets 95% of my usage.

Previously had an 11Pro and SE2.

I've pretty much always kept two phones for battery reasons but also if one has a problem then you always have another you can rely on.

That’s not a dramatic undertaking though. I manage just fine with one big phone instead of a phone, an iPod, a camera. It’s a mobile device in the first place and I got the size I wanted from the get-go.

Having a smaller back up phone for when you don't want to carry your Pro Max seems kind of like a waste. Why get the Pro Max then?

I didn't want that huge phone and I also dont want a smaller backup phone. So I got the 12 Pro and it works for me.

I have the 12 Pro, and when I want a bigger screen I have my iPad Pro.

But do you.

Oh, I had the 12 Pro, didnt like it much honestly... screen felt way too small!

It's the perfect size for on the go, which is kind of what you're looking for right? When you don't want to carrying the Pro Max?

Funny that you mentioned the fanny pack. I started carrying a man bag (not a fanny pack lol) so now it really doesnt matter the size of my phone. Get a man bag lol

Haha maybe it’s time I consider one (man bag). But the screen is so much nicer on the max and it’s easier to type foe me ! All a trade off I guess 😆

I would have kept using my 4, but the SIM card had to be upgraded when I got a 6S. If I need a backup for battery life, I just use a portable battery charger, and a solar panel for summer camping.

Yep me too, I got my vintage brown leather man bag and just love it. Some people laugh at me for having a man bag, but I dont care, i'm metro sexual! In all serious though, in this day and age, males carry a lot of stuff now, keys, phone, wallet, bottle of water, earphones, diary etc

Oy! You’re not getting it lol!

I’m just ignoring any suggestions on fanny packs and the like without touching base on that terrible fashion that makes white Americans stand out anywhere with their fashion crimes.

People used to carry more devices like I mentioned a few years before and they world didn’t stop spinning and neither is a big phone these days a justification to buy a smaller one.

Now back to the person that is too embarrassed to carry their phone hence wanting to buy a smaller one. Maybe that suggestion of a fanny pack is the solution for you. LOL
