Is anyone with either the 2020 (Intel) MacBook Air or the 2020 (Intel) 4-port 13" MacBook Pro having issues with either Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C?

I was alerted to a few alarming threads that made it seem like the changes Intel made to the Thunderbolt 3 controller on Ice Lake (namely integrating it in with the CPU) is bringing certain degrees of problem along with them.

Seeing as I'm imminently buying the latter system, I wanted to see if this issue was widespread enough for me to reconsider my purchase or if it's minor and/or likely to be resolved in OS/firmware updates.

If you're knowledgeable about Ice Lake's Thunderbolt 3 setup as it pertains to these Macs and can shed light on this, one way or another, I'd love to hear from you here!

Nope- there are oodles of "alarming threads" posted that don't add up to diddly squat or impact a very small number of people.

I connect my 2020 10th gen 13" (4-port) to a CalDigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt 3 Dock (that drives two displays) or directly to just the LG UltraFine 21.5" multiple times each week and it has never had a problem.

I have a 2019, 13 inch Macbook_Pro (4x Thunderbolt-3 model) and the Thunderbolt-3/USP-3 seem to work intermittently.

I'm still running Catalina; I think the problem might have started when I installed the 10.15.7 Supplemental Update (maybe, maybe not).

I have tried the soft reset and the System Management Controller (SMC) reset - it worked intermittently prior to doing those things and it also works intermittently after doing those things. I am unsure if there was any improvement.

One thing: the ports don't seem to do better when there is absolutely no motion and do less well, when things get moved around (computer or wires/cords). I'm not a perfectly still kind of a person.

I think my applecare just ran out, so I am hoping that it is not an expensive hardware issue.

I connect to the internet via ethernet & Adapter, so the intermittent thing is pretty annoying to me.

Just updated to 11.2 on an Ice Lake MacBook Pro. My TS3+ only charges my machine. No USB ports are recognized by the Mac. Super frustrating.
