Looks like your throttled.

im not throttled. im only 100 MB into my plan. i redid the test and im getting anywhere from 1-3 Mbps down, and then less than 1 up. but its sporadic and NEVER consistent. it will go right back to below 1 for downloads again.

My speeds have been anywhere from .5mbps to 45mbps depending on where in the city I'm located. Its crazy how much of a difference in LTE speeds there are in this one area. I can be driving down a street and get 45mbps and two blocks later on the same road, I'm lucky to get 5mpbs. This is in St. Paul, MN

well right before my phone refuses to stay connected to LTE, i was able to hit 10 Mbps, 0.4 up.

07081, Springfield. and if you look at the map, im on the edge of coverage area for LTE. i get 2 bars of LTE if im lucky, but then switches to 4G and i never see LTE again.

Switch over to VZW. ;) I am in Linden and get 35/14 consistently (only 15/5 on Fios :))but unfortunately it's on my iPad as I don't have an iPhone. ATT has been the pits around here for me for years. I've moved my cell service to T-Mo prepaid (Galaxy S3) and it's 10x better than AT&T has ever been.

well im wondering if i go back to apple, they would let me switch.....well that and also if at&t would cancel my upgrade and let me off without the ETF.

Dial *3282# and find out what your data usage is, are you on unlimited?

Have you called at&t if your service has an outage or under maintenance?

spoke to online reps 3 times and they confirmed no outages or problems in the area. also confirmed the data plan was provisioned properly and reactivated my phone twice. no dice.

just got my new iphone today and i'm getting disappointing speeds think i'm gonna switch.

Maybe at&t's sketchy shady built tower in areas. Try asking other people around your area with an iPhone 5 with settings enabled just as on your device. Leave us a feedback if you found anything regarding if it is your device or the tower.

OK!

Went to the AT&T store and tested out my iPhone 5 to Get to the bottom of this.

5 bars - 27 Mbps down.

House - 2 bars - 6 Mbps max!

BUT

Here's the kicker...

I used my iPhone 4's stop watch to see how long it actually takes to render websites. Did some full sites no mobile.

I found that even though I am getting more Mbps at the AT&T store...

THE ACTUAL TIME IT TAKES TO RENDER WEB PAGES IS NO DIFFERENT!

Crazy. But at least I know it's not my device and don't need to get a replacement. And at least I know I'm getting great loading times even though I have less bars.

LTE definitely varies depending on the tower. In the DC/PG County area I've gotten varied speeds, as low as (8.5/1.9) to as high as (48.3/16.4).

My home speed is good though, sitting here at my desk I just got (33.3/15.4), which is about what I expect during the day.

I notice network latency and congestion has been much better with LTE. I was actually able to use Internet during rush hour in Manhattan. And it was pretty fast with very little waiting. That never happens.

Today I was out and about in the Philly area and didn't receive any emails. I checked safari and I was able to connect, no problem on LTE. When I got to my wifi a ton of emails came in. I had to restart my iPhone 5 before emails over LTE worked.

Bottleneck is probably the processor at this point. Top LTE speeds are probably much faster than the time the processor needs to render. My iPhone seems about the same speed rendering pages, whether on Wifi at home or on LTE. My speed at home has been about 5Mbps while my LTE last night was 17Mbps. Either way though I'm very happy at the speed web pages load on my iPhone now.

The coverage maps are not very useful in my experience. I am not in an LTE supported coverage area (on the edge of the city) according to the map and was even told by AT&T tech reps that I would not get it. As soon as I got my iPhone, I turned it on and received 4 bars of LTE.

At the end of the day, it is a wireless signal and your experience may vary.
