Anything against leaving my iSight on 24/7?

I'm just wondering if it harms to leave my iMac's iSight on all the time. I am planning to use it as a motion detector/notifier if I'm not at home (with the Iris software) since it pretty much overlooks my whole living room.
Would this reduce the lifetime of my iSight? Any reasons NOT to do this?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Is it built-in or one of the FireWire iSight cameras?

If it's FireWire, you'll start getting stray red or white pixels from the heat it generates. These will go away after the camera cools down, but they can remain if it stays hot for too long.

I suppose if you can watch your living room 24/7 it means a lot of other people with the right techy nouse will be able to as well! You may want to adopt a new "on camera" etiquette to clean up any bad behaviour you may have for your new audience - no skinning up - no scratching and sniffing - no jihaadi haikus :)
