Anything with progress bar makes animations choppy on 2.4 Penryn, why?

if i have a swirly progress bar (downloading or installing or whatever), the dock will animate choppily and same with anything else.

Any ideas?

well, i wouldnt call it an issue just yet. when you say "swirly progress bar" what do you mean? screenshots? in what exact situations has this happened?

Like in software update when it's checking for example.

Or when I'm downloading a file through safari download manager.
