How can I text multiple people WITHOUT creating a Group SMS/MMS?

For example, if I want to ask 5 of my friends what they are up to tonight, without them knowing each individual person whom I've also sent the same message to.

This works with Group SMS off. But it seems there is no way to do this with Group SMS enabled.

Is there an in-between that I'm missing?

Just copy and paste the same text to all 5 of them. Otherwise it will be in one big group text

Settings -> Messages -> Group Message = OFF.

I think that should do it.

Well I want the option of group messaging sometimes and sending individual texts at other times. It's silly to turn on and off that switch everytime.

when you do a text, you just keep adding new people's names. Easy stuff.

(you can not do it from a previous text.... but start a NEW text)

It sends ONE message to multiple people. And, as each person replies, it goes to all people in that text

I know there's a way to do this. Maybe making group contacts so that if you have a list of people that you often have to provide information to via text you just send it to that one contact and it sends one message to each number?

I'd also like to know.

I'm not sure if you noticed or not but Apple doesn't really care what you want, they decide and give you what they feel best. As of now that is the only option that Apple has provided for what you want to do. That means that you will have to decide if you would rather use Group Messaging or not by going through the "silly" process of changing the switch. I am not sure why you think that you would have to change the switch every time. You would only have to change the switch it what you want to do if different from the last time you sent a text. It is also worth mentioning that Android probably has this feature if you wanted to go that route.

I think OP is trying to avoid this from happening. I often times need to send the same message to multiple people at the same time but dont always want them all replying to each other. I've been caught on the other end of this as well. I will get a message from someone as part of a group SMS and from there I get notified of every response. It becomes extremely annoying.

I'm fairly certain this only happens with iMessage though as every time I've been caught up in this, everyone involved is using an iPhone.

Thank you. This is exactly what I meant.
