APC UPS sleep question

If I'm away and there's a power outage while my mac is asleep, will the PowerChute software still shut my computer down to prevent data loss?

Im curious about this as well. Just ordered the 1500VA APC UPS.

I have yet to suffer a power failure to test my APC BackUps 1500, but Energy Saver does have options for my UPS in terms of sleeping and powering down.
