Aperture on Core Duo vs C2D iMac

Does anyone have any experience running Aperture with a large library (50GB) on an older Core Duo Imac vs a newer Core 2 Duo system.

Would love to know if they are, or not, significantly more responsive. Likewise do the different video cards in iMacs make a significant difference in Aperture performance?

It would perform better on the C2D and the video card does make a difference.
