APFS is optimized for flash/SSD.

Should i format my new 5tb HDD to APFS?

Have anybody had any problems with APFS in Samsung 850 Evo SSD?

I have MBP with internal Apple SSD. If i upgrade to Sierra, does it automatically reformat it to APFS?

APFS is still in beta so you should definitely keep a backup of your data. Sierra does not automatically convert volumes to APFS, and you can't boot from an APFS volume.

APFS is not meant for using with live data at this point, at all. Only for testing. Basically, if you're asking these questions, you shouldn't be using it yet.

APFS volumes are not bootable yet. I would not use it at all, only for development purposes (to test your programs).
