i heard craig Federighi Confirmed it will be coming to imacs but its been month and Theres no update
Im facing scroll lag in logic x When zooming oto much and this is on a almost maxed out 27inch 2017 5k imac its because of the fusion drive i think ...maybe this or buying An external
Ssd and Running projects from The ssd will solve this

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure APFS is going to make much difference - most of the performance improvements appear to come in file handling. This sounds like you're already past that. It might be worth looking at the performance monitor to see if there's anything else causing problems. If you're zooming in on a track, that data is already in memory.

Apple has made no announcements about APFS on Fusion Drives, but it's unlikely to solve any of the concerns you have with your computer's performance.

Sometimes the mag fully Goes away after starting the projects Sonits not the Performance of the computerim almost sure its the file handling of fusion drive cause i ru the latest games on bootcamp With Out dated drivers almost maxed out

When a drive is converted to APFS (data in place), the data doesn't move. This means that IF your computer is slow due to lots of seeks from the HDD behind an Fusion Drive, nothing is going to change for you when it goes to APFS.

Second, the placement of data on SSD vs. HDD in a Fusion Drive has nothing to do with the filesystem. Its done by the volume manager (block, not file). Unless Apple changes the logic in the CoreStorage volume management simultaneously with the support for APFS, nothing will change for you.

Your problem is that your working set of data is large enough that it has migrated off the SSD onto the HDD. This is an SSD size problem not a filesystem problem.

Your particular Fusion Drive (I don't think you stated what size you have, 1TB, or larger) doesn't have enough SSD to keep your working set on SSD.

You would likely benefit from putting your working set on an external SSD, as long as you choose that SSD wisely (make sure it's fast enough and that the connectivity is truly TB2 or USB3, not USB2.)

i guess i already said i maxed everything out The fastest processor i7 4.2 ghz radeon pro 580 and 3tb fusion so ive got 128ssd in my fusion and the computer is not slow by any means and it works perfectly fine But The problem is with scrolling And zooming fully in logic Cause when your samplig you do need smooth scrolling which i have On my older retina macbook pro with a weaker cpu and Gou and the same amount of ram so this has to do something with the project files Being managed badly by the fusion so do you think Keeping logic on the internal fusion drive And running projects from the external ssd will get this Fixed? (copying projects to external ssd) ill be buying a ssd with 400-450mb/second read and write speed Which will connect via usb 3 is this Fast enough for running the whole project from the external drive
And i know 16gb ram Is surly enough for logic but do you think upgrading the ram to 32 will somehow get this fixed cause maybe the system is Using too much ram Because of thefusion? But i dont think its the case any help would be great bro thanks for the reply means a lot definitly

Fusion Drive doesn't use RAM any more than a normal disk.

Use iostat to see if you are doing disk access on your HDD or SSD. Such as:

iostat -w 1 -n 10

Your SSD should be disk0, and HDD is disk1. Go through your workflow and see if slowness correlates with disk1 access.

terminal command.
Allllrrighhht to be honest i know this must not be something danegerous but im too scared to do this
Cause i had my Rmbp integrated gpu die For some unknown reason and now im keeping the GPU switching off and im always running the 750m plus i had throttling issues and smc problems on my 650m (2012 rmbp) so i dont dare to Type anything in terminal or any unofficial thing cause that might cost me 4000dollars

I know im being too stupid but Considering if heres a pr Ble Then i can do nothing about it cause here theres no genius bar...
You can see why im concerned about this

google is your friend.

iostat is output only, it doesn't change anything about your computer. It's like TOP but for disk I/O.

Naw man i tryst you more than google cause there are lots of stupid sites out there that might simply copy content from each other so the best people I can Get some help from are people who Use mac os and knkw it well enough to help So im asking you

And since you say its fine im gonna be trying this out to determine the problem is with the hdd
