About two weeks ago my 2g 16gig ipod touch died. I am replacing it with a 3g 8gig ipod touch in about a week. iTunes says it has backed up my old ded ipod, so, how would I apply that backup to my new ipod? Would I not be able to because it is smaller capacity? What will be restored in the backup?

just to let you know there is no 3rd gen 8gb its still 2nd gen so if you want all the features of iOS4 you should get either 32 or 64gig version but the back up should apply fine you just wont be able to fit all your apps and media on the 8gb

Technically there is one but theres no difference. Its just the name. If you want the software update and such, then buy a 32gb.
