This concept has always fascinated me...movies like 28 Days Later and now the TV show Jericho, both about survivors of a ruined world.

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for movies that might satisfy my hunger for more apocalyptic action? :D I've been looking but I can't find a worthwhile list anywhere.

An Inconvenient Truth.

Whether you end up agreeing with it or not, it'll make you think for days afterwards.

There's always Waterworld and The Postman to fall back on. ;)

luv ya bunches! xoxoxo

Waterworld, Judge Dread, The Postman,... just kidding

28 Days Later.

You don't need anything else. What. A. Film. Love it... Anyway, hmmmm, The Omen (New one, remake) wasn't great, but one to watch. That and maybe Silent Hill again, not great... but why not, ones to rent rather than buy.

Not sure if they quite fit into your category though, but not bad.

Time Enough at Last...its only about 15mins, its part of the Twlight Zone but its a great episode. There are other episodes about the end of the world. I'd suggest renting them, or buying.

Or if you get the Sci-Fi channcel they play the top episodes on New Years day(and some afterword)

You got me going on one of my favorite topics. These are all older films, but they are considered classics of the genre:

"Soylent Green" - in which people try to survive a horribly polluted, corporate world.

"Colossus: The Forbin Project" - a Cold War thriller is about what would happen if we turned over all of our defenses to a computer. Rather outdated technologically, but very suspenseful, and the end is chilling.

"A Clockwork Orange" - a wickedly funny film depicting a society that has descended into ultra-violence.

"The Andromeda Strain" - a returning satellite brings back an alien bacterium that could wipe out all life on this planet.

"The Omega Man" - a precursor to "28 Days Later".

-The Day After Tomorrow
-The Day After

Both are completely different, the latter could have been the inspiration for Jericho.
