Hello - I'm using the second generation of AirPods Pro and will admit that the Active Noise Cancellation is much improved over the previous generation. I know that in all AirPods Apple is supposedly dynamically adjusting the sound of music to fit your ear, ambient noise, etc. and would occasionally notice this on first generation if I was sitting and someone started talking I could hear the ANC adjust the intensity.

However, on APP 2 this is disorient-ly more aggressive. If I slightly turn my head or even if I'm just sitting still sometimes the I can hear them adjusting and the sound of the music and it's disorienting. I'm using the same tips as the first generation with pass the "seal test." Otherwise their perfect, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one with this issue or if it is a software bug.

Edit: Spatial audio is off, btw

I’m also having sound issues, seems like once I turn on ANC, you could hear the singer's voice moving to somewhere near the bottom of the left ear. It's very obvious and annoying. I've actually got mine replaced on the first day (23rd Sept) as my wife's pair which I also tried on my phone doesn't seem to have this issue.

The new pair that was given to me (they had to open a new box and gave me a new unit) also had the same issue! I had to pull them out from my ears, reinsert them back with the stem facing more towards my mouth and the sounds will be slightly more equal on both sides.

I then compared the serial number of my buds with my wife's, mine started with GNxxxx for both sides, but hers were GW and GX.

So just trying to find out if it's a batch issue, those who are finding the sounds imbalanced, are your pair labelled GN as well? The serial numbers are found near the inside of the stems.

And those who are having no issues with the sounds, are your's beginning with GW or GX?

Let's share here so we would know if it's a batch issue. TYIA

Mine starts with HO and I have the same issue. I'm sure this is a software issue, maybe it's specific to some iPhone models? Mine is XR, it seems disabling Follow iPhone under accessibility settings helps. I think it needs a firmware update.

I’m hoping this is merely a software issue and not one related to hardware. Apple boasted about the H2’s ability to analyze sounds more frequently, so I’m hoping it just needs refinement to algorithms.

It almost seemed to me like the Generation 1 model picked a level of ANC and then adjusted to keep you at a consistent level. I feel like APP2 are dynamically changing the level of ANC to acclimate the surroundings, but I don’t like actively hearing audio change even when idle.

Yes. Not sure if it's the Adaptive EQ that's doing all these? Anyway the way the music plays sounds different in all 3 modes, only with ANC and Transparency turned off, the sound seems more balanced out

TYIA
GW no problems.

I don't know if this is ANC or something else in the software active sound stuff.

Yes I experience the same thing. I don't know if it really bugs me, it actually makes the stereo sound seem more 3D, and the spatial environment seem way more wide.

So I don't know if its by design, normal or whatever, but I've experienced the same thing turning my head, and the noise cancelling changing levels a lot based on how tight they are in the ears, and you can hear it if you wiggle your ears around actively.

Interesting.

What firmware version are you guys on? I'm experiencing a weird soundstage distortion type sound that I think is my ANC fooling around with itself, too. Realized there is a firmware update available for mine so I hope the newest version alleviates this... Never noticed it with my Gen 1s and it's very distracting on the new ones.

Yes it happens quite frequently, using spatial audio fixed make it more rare to occur.

Same! Every now and again, the audio in my APP2s slightly move to the left or right - everything seems a bit unbalanced. I have spatial audio turned off, and I did all the trouble shooting. I don’t recall this issue happening with my APP1s.

Really hope this is something that’ll be fixed with a firmware update because they are otherwise fantastic. I was blown away by the clarity and depth of the sound.

This issue still occurs in the latest 16.1 beta. Most likely it will require a firmware update, it seems to me the AirPods are slightly out of sync. On the APP1 switching between ANC and Transparency a ding is perfectly played on both AirPods, but on the APP 2 the ding and the activation is slightly delayed on one side. I think that's causing issues.

I've noticed this too. The chimes when changing modes are either missing or usually I faintly hear it in one ear and not the other. I think this is the issue - the ANC isn't working harmoniously. And when the left ear adjusts independently of the right it's disorienting.
