I have poked around a bit and have not found what I'm looking for. I would really like to have an appointment button or two that I could use to load Safari and then to a specified web page. Kinda like a short-cut key on a desktop. Has anybody ever seen such???

Thanks, Rick

This is the iPhone forum.

Load safari to the page you want then click the plus at the bottom of the page and click add to home screen. Is that what you wanted?

I know how to save a favorite...I just want a "custom" button on the home screen that I touch to take me directly to a particular web page/favorite. Kinda like a hot-key that will load Safari and load a specific web page.

I know this is a iphone and ipod touch, App forum. That's why I'm here! :)

I was referring to the poster above me he referred to the desktop which is on a computer.

If you follow my instructions you will see the button add to home screen. It will then put the favourite on the home screen like you describe instead of in the bookmarks section.

Custom iphone icons for your homepage

I've seen two ways to do this. One way will first direct you to a hosting site and then direct you to your webpage.

The other will take you directly there.
I like this method.

You first need to add this "applet" to your iphone bookmarks:
javascript:javascript%3Alinks%3Ddocument.getElementsByTagName('head')%5B0%5D.getElementsByTagName('link')%3Bfor(i%3D0%3Bi%3Clinks.length%3Bi%2B%2B)%7Bif(links%5Bi%5D.getAttribute('rel')%3D%3D'apple-touch-icon')%7Blinks%5Bi%5D.parentNode.removeChild(links%5Bi%5D)%7D%3B%20break%3B%7D%3Burl%3Dprompt('Enter%20Your%20Icon%20URL%3A'%2C'http%3A%2F%2F')%3B%20if(url%20!%3D%20''%20%26%26%20url%20!%3D%20'http%3A%2F%2F'%20%26%26%20url%20!%3D%20null)%7Bai%3Ddocument.createElement('link')%3Bai.setAttribute('rel'%2C'apple-touch-icon')%3Bai.setAttribute('href'%2Curl)%3Bdocument.getElementsByTagName('head')%5B0%5D.appendChild(ai)%3Balert('OK!%20%5Cn%5CnClick%20the%20%2B%20icon%20to%20add%20your%20icon%20to%20the%20Home%20Screen.')%3B%7D

You also need a web hosted image at 57x57.
Image addresses can be made with sites like resizr.

Once you do that you can simply navigate to the webpage on your iphone via safari browser .. then go to bookmarks, select the applet (iphone icon)
then enter an image address.

Then press add to homescreen and viola! A custom icon.
