Cam iTunes handle all of the downloads that will occur on Saturday? Could this overload their system and shut it down?

iTunes was overloaded by the iPhone introduction so I would guess it could happen. Maybe Apple has done some updating of it network but there is no way they could/would apply enough bandwidth on a every day basis to handle what will happen on Saturday.

If you have trouble, just try again later. It should be better on Sunday if the site has not crashed 100%

I think it could just slow down to molasses. But it could crash but I just dont see that. I think they have enough clustered servers to handle this, it is just bandwidth coming in and they probably have multiple T3s so handle the traffic. At least you would think.

Hopefully Apple will have learned from the App Store launch. They know how many iPads will be going live on Sat so it will be interesting. Certainly the media & Apple h8trs will be "lying in wait" to pounce for any mishaps.
