App Folders in Documents Folder

I'm annoyed by the folders automatically created within my documents folder by applications I install (Office, Quicken, The Sims, etc.). Is there a way to change this, so that the folders are created within that application's own folder?

The "Microsoft User Data" folder can be moved out of Documents and into"~/Library/Preferences" without any problems.
