Hello! I was going through some of my old belongings and found my like new, never used Kingston Mobilelite G2. I guess you need an app to set it up and I can’t find the app anymore on the App Store. Is there a place I can get this from or a different way to set it up?

Hey, delsoul, I have recently bought a G2 at a Goodwill Store. I am having the same trouble finding the app too. My work around is to plug it into the Ethernet to my router and plug in the sd card or thumb drive you want to access. Use a wireless device such as iPad to find the connection. By default it is going to show us as “MLWG2-xxxx” with no password. After you sign on, use safari to go to 192.168.201.254 and you should see your drives. Click the gear at the top right to access the setup. I recommend changing the password to wpa2 and enter a new password. Click save and it will reset the G2 to the new password. You will have to sign in again this time with the password.
I downloaded both of the manuals from Kingston digital to get this info.
I will update you after I try using this awhile.
The speed is great. I haven’t tried finding it on my other devices, just the iPad. I’m not sure how many users can log in at one time.
It took a long time to charge but seems to be good now.
I have it plugged into the micro usb power port.
Hope this helps.

If you need to reset the G2, there is a reset hole next to the micro USB port. Insert a paper clip into it and press for 10 seconds and it will reset to the default Wi-Fi without password.
I was able to get two devices logged in (iPad and Motorola cell phone) and they have internet access through the Ethernet connection. I can access the files on both the sd card and usb drive but don’t have the cool app that manages the files. Too bad it’s not available. I will keep hunting for it.

This is huge, thank you! I will
Give this a try later today!!

You can access the files with a network browser app. File Commander is a paid annual app that can do full access when you add the network address to it.

Here are the manuals from Kingston.com

I found an app called FileBrowserGO that works with the G2. See attached screenshots.
This is a subscription service and I don’t know how much it is.
This app opens and plays many files.
I still have the G2 plugged into the Ethernet router and am signed into the G2 Wi-Fi to get internet access. Range is good but not great. I’m trying it about 20 feet away.
I haven’t figured out how to set up the Wi-Fi bridge without the Kingston app so I am stuck to being wired.
