Don't know if such an app exists but I'm looking for something thing that could help me with a play I'm writing. I've got quite a few characters and I'm wondering if a simple app that could help visualize their relationships – like a flow chart that you find in excel - but it would dynamically change when a new character is added.

How about a mind mapping program?

I use FreeMind (it's free) to organize class notes and I love it.
