Since updating my iPhone 5S to 7.1, there is lag in launching apps. For example when i press an app, the icon darkens for a second and then launches.

This problem did not exist before 7.1. I hoped for a fix with 7.1.1 but it has not been fixed.

What i have noticed is that this lag happens when my iPhone is connected to cellular data. If i switch my phone to airplane mode, this lag disappears completely. I haven't found a fix yet. My iPad air on 7.1 is very fast and it's on wifi only.

Did anyone else notice this problem? I hope someone can help.

My carrier's name is CYTAMOBILE-VODAFONE which is quite long however i don't understand why this happens.

Is there a fix?

I will try this.

I have already updated to 7.1.1 and the problem still exists. Still no fix!

Thanks for the help guys.

update

This bug remains in ios 8 beta 2

And yes it is caused by long carrier name logo

half sec lag before opening every single app since ios 7.1 :apple:

This is very disappointing.

We heard rumors before 2-3 weeks about 7.1.2 and i hoped for a fix. Still not 7.1.2 and the problem still exists in iOS 8.

If any of you are developers, please report it to Apple as this is a very serious bug.

iPhone 3G users also have app launch lag, it does happen on some devices. I noticed my 4s has this on iOS 8 beta but on iOS 7 apps open instantly.

i solved this problem temporarilly by jailbreaking and removing carrier logo.
i am waiting if beta 3 or 4 on ios8 fixes anything.

I wouldn't class it as a 'serious' bug, but I can see how annoying it may be.

amm, no,
this is actually a VERY serious bug

If you stackwatch the phone you will see that constantly many system processes crash on the background as well**(thus causing the lag)

this among other implications has a very bad effect on you battery cycles.

Furthermore unlike other bugs/crashes that occur every now or never. this occurs 24 /7

hard to get any worse.
